He graduated from the University of Wales School of Medicine in Cardiff, U.K., and completed his internship at Royal Gwent Hospital. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. Following this, he pursued a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at Louisiana State University Medical Center and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. He received his board certification in Internal Medicine in 1986, Pulmonology in 1988, and Gastroenterology in 1991. Dr. Mahatma is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterology Association, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Texas Medical Association, and Dallas County Medical Society.

He's a great doctor: very genuine, composed, insightful, and calming. I don't really need to say much about his intelligence, diagnostic abilities, and proficiency during the surgeries I've had with him because all doctors should be so knowledgeable. I adore him and his staff even in the uncomfortable circumstances in which I see him.

My visit was not good. Waited almost 2 hours. Referred to a Sonogram and never got results from the office until I called 2 times after my Sonogram was completed 3 weeks ago.
Expect to wait a long time when coming to this office.

Horrible. ...he and his staff are inconsiderate of your time. After not eating the day before and drinking the prep for the colonoscopy he couldn't show up on time for work...I sat there for over two hours l, it wasn't until I made an inquiry was I told it would be another TWO hours...

Good recommendations on medications and and additional tests to diagnose my problem. We will see on follow up if he has diagnosed correctly. Office staff excellent and great knowledge about symptoms and compassion.

Both he and his staff were very caring. They asked a lot of questions to get to the root of the problem. Everyone was very friendly and made me feel welcome and comfortable. All of the care and advice given was very helpful. I was welcomed to come back and if I ever need to go back he will be my first choice.
