Maima Fortune, PMHNP

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
GA
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Psychology from the University of Rhode Island in 2010, then went on to earn my Master's in Nursing from Drexel University, graduating as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2018. I have worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as telemedicine. For four years, I have cared for and provided psychotropic medication management to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in settings including hospitals, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, and state psychiatric facilities. I have dedicated much of my career to working with individuals with depression, adjustment disorders, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorders, bipolar disorder, insomnia, schizophrenia, ADHD, and major neurocognitive disorders. I am passionate about bringing mental healthcare via telemedicine services to those who might not otherwise receive it. I believe in integrative and patient-centered care. I am also passionate about integrating my newfound love for fitness into mental health, as many psychotropics cause weight gain. I live in Georgia with my fianc? and two dogs, a miniature wire-haired Dachshund and a Silky Terrier. In my spare time, I enjoy exercising, traveling, exploring new places, and watching football games.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first session will be a time for us to get to know one another. We will complete a short assessment of your biological, physical, and sociological status. Together we will create a treatment goal and define objectives to ensure that we keep track on what you would like to accomplish during our sessions. Once that is established, we do the work and we do the work together. I hope that you would learn more about yourself to allow for self-advocacy and self-determination.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
