In her spare time, Dr. Correia is a big lover of fiber arts. She has crocheted since she was 5 or 6 years old, started knitting about 10 years ago, and in the last several years began spinning her own yarn. Her latest special interest is flatbed knitting machines. She has always enjoyed making presents for loved ones, and now that another wave of friends and cousins have started having children, she thinks, "I’ve been training my whole life for this," and dives into making another baby blanket, amigurumi plush, piece of warm-weather gear, etc.
