About Dr. Marco Paez
Dr. Marco A. Paez was born in Miami, Florida. He attended Miami-Dade College and Florida International University (FIU). He graduated with a competitive degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Psychology. He then matriculated at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. where he graduated with his Medical Doctorate degree in 2012. During his medical school training, he studied abroad in Argentina where he provided patient care to the community. His talents and passion for patient care took him to Chicago, Illinois where he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine from Loyola University Medical Center. During his residency, he received a resident research award for his work on Celiac Disease. He then completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. During his fellowship, he was privileged to have worked alongside leading expert physicians in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He also completed rotations in Gastroenterology at the Washington D.C., Veterans Affair Medical Center, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and Kaiser Permanent Medical Center in Northern Virginia.
Dr. Paez is passionate about all aspects of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has a particular clinical interest in Interventional Gastroenterology as he completed his advanced fellowship training in Interventional Endoscopy and Endosonography at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California in 2019. He developed advanced endoscopic skills including endoscopic mucosal resection of large polyps (EMR), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatophraphy (ERCP). Dr. Paez is double board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Paez is so incredibly nice, friendly, and a great listener. I never once felt rushed through the consultation. He patiently listened to me talking about my health issues and concerns. I felt extremely reassured proceeding with a plan of action with him. Staff was very organized and friendly. I was able to book an initial consultation as well as future appointments with Dr. Paez within a very reasonable time frame.

Overall everything went super well. Office was nice and clean with lots of information to read while you wait. Doctor and nurse were very polite they greeted me with big smiles, which made me feel more at ease.

I had a great visit with Dr. Paez! He was incredibly friendly and made me feel very comfortable throughout my appointment. He took the time to explain everything clearly and mentioned that my procedure would take place just down the street, which I really appreciated.
However, when I checked out with the front office, I was surprised to learn that my insurance wasn’t accepted at the Orange County location, and I would need to go to the Riverside office instead—over an hour away with a 6:45 AM check-in time. Definitely a bit of a bummer, and I wish I had known this information earlier.
The office itself was clean and welcoming, but I did notice the front staff didn’t seem very cheerful. They looked tired and weren’t very engaging, which made the checkin/checkout process feel a bit impersonal.
Overall, Dr. Paez was wonderful, and I’m glad I had the chance to meet with him! I just hope future patients get all the insurance details upfront to avoid any last-minute surprises. ??

My experience at Dr. Paez's office was excellent: I arrived early and was seen early. He has an engaging manner while still being focused on the details of and motivation for the plan of care. I was able to schedule another appointment within a week: super-grateful for the efficiency of the staff as well. Although I had to drive some ways for the appointment, I think that, in the end (given what I read about other gastroenterology practices), choosing that route will probably save me time overall.
