About Maria Chavous

Helping people feel their best and improve their quality of life is why I chose medicine as a career. As a family nurse practitioner, I am able to build meaningful relationships with my patients over time while providing comprehensive, patient-centered care. I am especially drawn to primary care because it emphasizes prevention, early intervention and long-term management of chronic conditions. Understanding the "why" behind a care plan is so important; when I help my patients gain that understanding, they can make informed decisions about their care and develop realistic plans to support lasting wellness. By approaching care collaboratively, I aim to keep lines of communication open. I want patients to know I provide transparent, evidence-based recommendations regardless of their condition or concern. I believe trust is built through genuine relationships, consistent follow-through, and advocating for what is truly in the patient's best interest. Maintaining balance outside of work helps me bring compassion, focus and attentiveness to my patient care. My family takes up the bulk of my time away from the office, which is good because my family is my biggest source of happiness. I have been married for 17 years. We have two Shiba Inus, who are our fur babies. I love animals and hope to have a small farm in the future.
