About Dr. Mark Langhans

Dr. Mark T. Langhans is a second-generation fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports related injuries of both athletes and non-athletes alike at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley. He is also an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Dr. Langhans completed his undergraduate work at the University of Notre Dame where he graduated with a degree in biochemistry with honors. He was awarded a National Institutes of Health training grant to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Scientist Training Program where he completed a PhD in molecular genetics and developmental biology in a the Center for Cellular and Molecular Engineering in addition to his MD. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for his clinical excellence in medical school. His orthopedic surgery residency was completed at the Hospital for Special Surgery followed by a sports medicine and shoulder fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. In addition to his training in the United States, Dr. Langhans has also trained with European experts in shoulder surgery at the Institute de Chirugie Reparatrice (Nice, France).
His clinical and research interests are focused on the development of personalized medicine approaches for orthopedic conditions. To this end, he offers a full spectrum of orthopedic care that includes cellular therapy, biologics, joint preservation techniques, minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques, and joint replacement.
He has presented his research at national and international meetings. He serves as a peer reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the Orthopedic Research Society (ORS), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).

This appointment was for a new problem with my shoulder. The doctor was very thorough and fully explained my x-ray results. He also explained what each test he was doing was meant to show. He explained the steps we will be taking to help resolve my issue and he also explained what steps we could take in the future if it doesn't resolve itself before our next appointment. I would HIGHLY recommend this doctor and this office for anyone experiencing orthopedic issues.

Rude office staff member implied that booking on Zocdoc was the reason they did not see my appointment and canceled when I had already arrived. When they first called at 12::55 for a 1pm appointment to say they made mistake and someone was supposed to call hours earlier to reschedule I explained that I drove 45 minutes- they told me to go get an x ray across the street and then come back. Then they called back as I’m waiting for x ray saying no in fact they can’t see me and to come back the next morning. When I told them again I drove 45 minutes and someone just told me to check in for x rays they denied anyone saying that and woman was rude just blamed Zocdoc with zero apology for the complete mishandling on their part. “They didn’t see it” is all she had to say.
