I earned my Bachelor's degree in Home Economics from the University of Iowa and completed my Dietetics Internship at the University of Vermont Medical Center. I have received the "Outstanding Woman Award" from the City of Chicago for my work and was named one of the top 10 dietitians in Chicago by Expertise.com. While traditional medicine treats the body as individual, separate organs, as a Functional Medicine dietitian, I view the body as one integrated system. I take a personalized, patient-centered approach that looks for the root causes of your condition by identifying imbalances in your body's systems. I do this by listening to your thorough history, conducting functional lab testing, and performing a detailed nutritional assessment. With all of this at hand, we collaboratively create a personalized plan that includes diet, exercise, stress reduction techniques, cooking, and nutritional supplementation if needed. Even after my long experience in the field, I remain passionate about what I do. My passion to help others grew from my personal 30-year history of being diagnosed with MS, which I have largely managed using diet and functional and integrative nutrition principles to remain virtually asymptomatic. Helping others similarly take back control of their health is extremely rewarding to me. When I am not working, I enjoy cooking, gardening, family time, and playing with my Siberian cat, Purrl.
