Getting to know Dr. Marnie Stefan
Dr. Stefan has vast experience in multiple psychiatric care settings including outpatient care, inpatient care, and assertive community treatment and has served as medical director for large institutions, serving a wide range of complex mental illnesses. Her main focus is patient-centered care, adapting her role to the individual needs of her patients.
Dr. Stefan was born and raised in Puerto Rico and therefore is fluent in English and Spanish. She attended medical school at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her residency in Psychiatry at the University of Florida where she received accolades for her abilities as a psychotherapist.
In the many roles Dr. Stefan has held throughout the 10 years as a psychiatrist, one thing remains constant, which is her strong commitment to her patients and ensuring that she treats all aspects of the life of her patients. She is a firm believer in addressing the patient as a whole, not as a diagnosis, as every patient is unique and has their own set of psychosocial circumstances.
What has defined Dr. Stefan throughout her career is her deep connection to her patients, her ability to provide meaningful psychotherapeutic interventions in all her encounter and her mission to remain committed to the unique needs of her patients. Her patients have described her as being very personable as well as having an engaging and caring style when it comes to her patient interactions. Having worked in multiple telemedicine settings since 2013, Dr. Stefan will ensure that her patient's telehealth experience equates to or exceeds an in-person encounter.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

I had a really lovely first visit, she was really positive and I felt very comfortable opening up to her. I really look forward to my next visit and seeing how I adjust to the new medication. She was knowledgeable about my struggles with PCOS, HS and hypothyroidism when choosing the best medication to start me on that wouldn’t exacerbate those conditions.

Marnie was wonderful! Compassionate, great sense of humor, and a clear communicator. I've worked with a few other psychiatrists in the past and the appointments consistently felt impersonal and cold – not the case here at all. So refreshing. I definitely feel like I'm in good hands and as though we made an informed, collaborative decision on a plan for medication.

I’ve had multiple psychiatrists and she is my favorite so far. She is very knowledgeable and is amazing at medication management. I started feeling so much better after she changed up my meds a bit. If I have any messages she always answers promptly and she seems genuinely compassionate and cares for my wellbeing. She also gives off a very positive energy and makes me hopeful for the future. Before her I was having a lot of doubts about it. Aside from medication management each session with her is like mini therapy and she gives great advise on how to deal with your condition and life in general. Overall, I highly recommend her as a doctor. 10/10
