"Dr. Martin ""Mike"" Nunez is a Board-Certified General Dermatologist originally from Chicago, Illinois and joins Arizona Dermatology Group, a Forefront Dermatology Practice with two locations in Prescott and Prescott Valley, Arizona. He holds a diverse career background prior to becoming a doctor. He is an Army veteran and served as a squad leader while in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In addition to his military service, he has worked in the business sector as a sales manager and consultant. Whether in the Army, the boardroom, or in patient care, he has found that the most important factor in helping people is building great relationships. Building those relationships is what initially drew him to the medical field and what keeps him excited about being a Dermatologist. Dr. Nunez has been fortunate to have had great medical training opportunities. He received two bachelor’s degrees, one in liberal arts and one in biology, from Northern Illinois University. During his undergraduate training he made the Dean’s list, President’s list, as well as the Phi Beta Kappa honors society while also completing research in glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive form of brain cancer. After his undergraduate training he went on to complete medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where he finished near the top of his class, and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society and nominated for the Gold Humanism society. After medical school, he completed a year of general medicine training at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis and then completed a 3-year Dermatology residency at Duke University in North Carolina. Dr. Nunez’s training prepared him to diagnose and treat a multitude of skin conditions. While he enjoys all aspects of Dermatology, his focus is on skin cancer surveillance/diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. In his spare time, he enjoys getting outside for a hike, a run, fishing, biking, or just relaxing.
