About Dr. Matthew Kim
Matthew Kim, MD, is a member of Summit Health's Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) team. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Yale University and his Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University. Dr. Kim completed his internship in General Surgery and residency in Otolaryngology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center and Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Dr. Kim decided to pursue medicine in high school after unexpectedly losing his grandfather to a medical illness, inspiring him to make a positive impact in health care. He chose otolaryngology because it involves how we experience the world and interact through hearing, smell, taste, and communication via facial expression and speech.
As an ENT, Dr. Kim specializes in treating nasal and sinus issues, including difficulty breathing through the nose, acute and chronic sinus infections, and nasal polyps and tumors. ?I also find it rewarding to collaborate with neurosurgeons to treat pituitary tumors and ophthalmologists for conditions involving the eyes and lacrimal (tear-duct) system,? he says.
Dr. Kim's treatment philosophy centers on empowering patients to understand their medical condition and make informed choices to maintain health and wellness. He takes pride in helping patients understand their issues and working together as a team to resolve them.
