Getting to know Dr. Matthew Koller
Dr. Matthew Koller is a board-certified adult psychiatrist who joined Talkiatry after he completed his psychiatry residency. Dr. Koller believes that a person must be known before they are treated, and he works with patients to understand their goals of care while prioritizing a collaborative treatment approach. His practice focuses on medication management, however he allows space for supportive therapy and other therapeutic modalities within sessions. He may include a therapist in the treatment plan for optimal care.
Dr. Koller completed his undergraduate training at The University of Texas at Austin before pursuing his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his general adult psychiatry training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, where he served as Chief Resident of Education during his final year of training. Dr. Koller focuses on treating the adult population from ages 18+.
He has training in both psychopharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment and emphasizes a patient-centered, interprofessional approach to care. He has experience in treating a variety of mental health illness, including depression, anxiety, insomnia, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and psychotic disorders.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

I have struggled staying consistent with my psychiatric care, but I felt very comfortable during my first visit. He did a great job at not only trying to figure out what was wrong with me, but also talk to me like a human and sympathize with me and my past to come up with a game plan that is going to suit the needs of my mental health.
