About Dr. Matthew Laffer
Matthew Laffer, DO, is a board certified dermatologist. He is certified through the American Board of Dermatology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the largest national professional society for the specialty of dermatology. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan, graduating with a B.S. in Brain, Behavior and Cognitive Sciences. Dr. Laffer then obtained his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Following medical school, he completed a one-year traditional rotating internship and a three-year dermatology residency at the Michigan State University Consortium – Beaumont Hospital, where he graduated as the Chief Resident.
Dr. Laffer’s professional interests include skin cancer prevention, screening and treatment, adult and teenage acne, psoriasis, eczema, hair loss and all diseases of the skin. His goal is to provide the highest quality, patient-centered care available and he greatly enjoys the challenge of personalizing his medical, surgical and cosmetic expertise for each patient. In addition, outside of the practice, Dr. Laffer lectures and teaches fellow dermatologists and medical professionals about the latest treatments in psoriasis and has published articles in several medical journals.
Dr. Laffer moved to Arizona in 2020 and enjoys exploring all Arizona has to offer with his family. His other hobbies include hiking, cooking, traveling and watching Michigan football.

Dr. Laffer did a great job of listening to and responding to any and all of my questions. He never made it feel rushed. If you specifically want to discuss acne (even mild, like mine), he will break down your entire routine and give you options and realistic expectations.

Dr Laffer and his staff were friendly, courteous, and professional. He took his time doing my body check for abnormal skin indications. Dr Laffer used a dermatoscope to examine me, something my last dermatologist did not do. I will continue my dermatological care with Dr Laffer for sure!

The front desk staff greeted me as soon as I walked in the door and checked me in very quickly!
On the other hand, Dr. Laffer was a great listener and communicator were I needed an expert input besides my own research and I am glad that I was able to see a dermatologist who encourages patients to seek advice while doing their own research.

I went in to be seen for 2 things- skin rash and moles check up. I was told he could only give me time for 1 of them and I needed to make a follow up to discuss the other issue. Spent about 10 minutes with me and then left. Have no idea why there wasn’t time to check a couple of potentially malignant moles and forced to pay for another appointment.
