My visit went well. He explained the entire healing process very thorough . Gave great tips and recommendations for me to do to help the process!
Super attentive and professional.
This was my first time visit... office staff was outstanding, friendly, knowledgeable and accomodating. I was in exam room very quickly and Dr. Mendez-Zfass followed within 2 minutes. I was very happy with the doctors manner and easy explanation of my injury. ,as well as his discussion with me pertaining to diagnosis and course of action to be taken. I highly recommend the doctor and the staff !!
Was nice and respectful, and thoroughly explained what could be the problem. Didn't have to wait long after the paperwork was filled out, and the facility is nice and clean. Highly recommend Dr. Mendez.
Excellent attention to detail and feedback. Office was also highly efficient.
Good! I was in and out and it was amazing!
Giselle and Dr. Mendez make a terrific team. Grateful to have such a great first visit. Couldn't recommend Dr. Mendez more. Cheers!
I waited awhile to see the doctor but he was very nice and informative when we did speak.
Very disappointed in my visit. I felt dismissed by the doctor, and although I hate to play this card, it felt sexist. He paid my boyfriend way more attention then he did me, and he didn’t seem to validate my pain. To make matters worse, an hour later, I received a call about another patient’s MRI and surgery. Disorganized and rude.
Thorough, decisive, and helpful. Thanks!
I've been to see Dr. Mendez-Zfass before so this time I did not have to do any paperwork. I got sent to x-ray almost as soon as I walked in the door, before my appointment time, and was back in the doctor's office by my scheduled appointment time. It was very efficient. Dr. Mendez-Zfass asked me about what I was experiencing and did an assessment. Then he showed me my x-rays and explained what they meant in a way that I was able to understand. He was thorough and efficient. It was a great experience.
After a very short visit for a wrist sprain, Dr. Mendez prescribed rest, a splint, and an MRI to be safe. Unfortunately, the office never provided me with an MRI script, it took 2 weeks and multiple "I'll call you backs" from his office before I could even get instructions on how to get an MRI, and even those instructions amounted to "you have to use the place on-site, but we can't forward you to them, make the appointment, or even give you a phone number". Having to jump through all the extra hoops when every other orthopedist seems to have these sort of patient care details handled means I'm not going to be returning here
Good! He diagnosed me and got me out of the office very quickly. I think i actually spent longer getting the x-rays and sitting in the waiting room which was a little annoying but I did appreciate him passing along two specialists names who could also help me.
Great experience, great Dr.
Well informed, great experience, and armed me with the items I needed to move past my ailment. Highly recommend.
Excellent appointment. He's efficient and thorough and makes sure I understand his diagnosis. Highly recommend.
Dr. Mendez and his staff were wonderful - however, I waited about 1h45 to be seen. Make sure that you have already squared your visit away with your insurance company to avoid any issues (the wait time seemed attributable to the insurance company and not the office staff). Also be aware that this office is a private practice within a hospital, so it is very crowded.
Short wait time, Informative staff and great bedside manner . This orthopedist knows his stuff! You must go to him. He’s the best MD in Brooklyn. :-)
Great! Highly recommend!
A quick friendly consultation.
My experience with Dr Mendez's office was great I was in pain they took me straight in and took xrays. Everyone in the office was polite and friendly. I would recommend this office for all orthopedic everything.
Found Dr. Mendez-Zfass to be very attentive and took the time to listen and answer my questions and concerns.
Very nice staff. And Dr Mendez-Zfass very good and he cares about he's patient.
Office sent me upstairs for X-rays so I wouldn't have to sit & wait around. Nice staff & physician.
Dr. Matthew is excellent! I highly recommend him.
Friendly and caring!
Dr. Mendez was very professional and knowledgeable. He was able to immediately diagnose my proximal hamstring tendonosis and recommended a number of physical therapy options to help treat my injury. He answered my questions clearly and effectively. The staff at the front desk were very welcoming and I was seen by the doctor quickly with minimal wait time. I would highly recommend Dr. Mendez to others.
My appointment with Dr. Mendez was excellent. His staff was very friendly and helpful. Dr. Mendez even greeted me when I arrived. I arrived early and was sent for x-rays before it was even my scheduled appointment time. After the x-rays there were only a few minutes in the waiting room before I was seen by Dr. Mendez. He walked me thru my x-rays, explaining each part of the image in layman's terms. He listened to all the things that do and do not cause pain and asked follow up questions and didn't rush me. He then spent a good amount of time performing an evaluation to isolate the exact cause of my pain. I am very happy to finally have a diagnosis and a treatment plan. Dr. Mendez even went over the list of physical therapists with me to point out the ones that he thought would be best for my condition.
Excellent doctor .
Too rushed, jumped from conclusion to conclusion without settling on one. I did not leave knowing any more than when I walked in. Hard not to feel like my visit only meant a cash register cha-ching for him.
Dr.Mendez is FANTASTIC. His staff was quick and polite when I arrived, and I saw the Doctor immediately. After asking a few questions, Dr. Mendez started the evaluation and was able to hone in on my back pain issue within MINUTES. I was shocked at how quickly and accurately he could diagnose my problem. I had a ton of questions and he answered them all thoroughly using facts and research to support. Very impressive. He was super patient and nice too. I know exactly how to treat my injury (from medication, how to sit/sleep, specific exercises, even what I am allowed to carry!) I am hopeful I'll be better soon, but if not I will definitely check back in with Dr Mendez for next steps. My only regret - I should have made an appointment sooner to see the doctor instead of trying to get better on my own.
Friendly staff and Dr. Mendez-Zfass listened to my situation and gave me a hopefully new temp fix to my aches and pains. Here's to hoping it works! Would come back to this MD.
Dr. Mendez and his staff treated me in a very professional manner. He identified my knee problem right away and treated it accordingly. I would highly recommend him.
Professional and excellent bedside manner. Very thorough with his explanations
Dr Mendez is always pleasant. Had my second knee surgery with him last week and followed up on thursday. I am mobile and recovering incredibly well. Dr Mendez is awesome!
A solid, capable professional. Clealrly explained the problem and recommended a thoughtful treatment modality.
Dr. Mendez was great! He was very easy going and didn't waste time with my issue. I was seen promptly, and the office staff was professional. I got immediate feedback on what I can start doing to improve my issue after discussing it with Dr. Mendez, which I was happy about. I will definitely go back if the need arises.
When Into the office the front Desk staff was so pleasant and welcoming. They were extremely helpful. They made my process so seamless. When I saw the Doctor he was extremely informative in regards to my issues. He explained to me what was going on with me thoroughly and suggested conservative treatment instead of rushing me into surgery.I would recommend him to everyone. He was truly amazing.
Very disappointed since there were decent reviews here. His bedside manner was poor. I got him to warm up a bit but he wasn't very helpful. He insisted he couldn't help me and that he would refer me to a rheumatologist because he thought I could have fibromyalgia or rhemotory arthritis (I have neither. I have very concentrated pain in my hands/wrists when I overuse them from typing, etc.) I also had pain in my thumb, which I've had for awhile, and he said "everyone has that." I ended up returning to my chiropractor who adjusted me and in doing so reduced the pain I had in my wrists and hands (coming from a neck and back injury.) In regard to the thumb injury, I have to return to another doctor who is more determined to find the root cause of my pain (perhaps via an MRI.) It just felt like he had "more important" patients that he was interested in helping... his heads was somewhere in the surgical clouds.
My appointment was at 1pm. The front desk staff is fast and pleasant, clean office. They can send you upstairs for xrays if needed with little to no wait. Dr. Mendez had a great personality. I attempted to explain all my symptoms and history with my back injury and I couldnt. In the midst of my history he asked if I got numbness in my legs and when I replied no, he had me sit on the table, pushed, pull, kick out etc with each leg and then said he can recommend cortisone shots or physical therapy (which I've done 2 years of with the issue getting worse). I didnt get the chance to explain that when I cough, sneeze, stand walk up stairs, downstairs to hard I am in terrible pain. Or that the pain has now spread and is affecting my hips when I walk. The xray tech listened to more of my history than he did. He did not say he looked at the xray they had me take but instead reference my3 yr old MRI, that I brought with me. Maybe if your on your way to becoming an invalid, he can be of assistance . I recently stopped all pain medications so I am just looking for the best options to stop this issue from getting worse or possible getting it repaired. I'm sorry but I would not recommend Dr. Mendez.
The staff was very friendly and the doctor was concise and very helpful.
I went to Dr. Mendez with a wrist injury that I got from doing Crossfit over the past 5 months. He was really thorough and helpful! The examination of my wrist was quick and (almost) painless. After he figured out that I have a partial muscle tear, he gave me a Cortisone shot. I really don't like needles, but the shot wasn't so bad at all. He gave me a good sense of what I can and can't do at the box while I'm healing (basically no pressing or pulling at all that would impact my wrist in any way for several weeks). Before I left he took the time to pull up some Google images so I could see exactly which muscle in my wrist was injured. He seemed confident in his diagnosis and prescribed PT/OT for a couple of weeks. I'll definitely be revisiting him if any other physical issues come up.
Awesome Doctor !
I was not happy with my visit with Dr. Mendez. I was told I needed xrays, so I was taken into a room where they were done. I never saw them after that, and they were never discussed with a doctor. Dr. Mendez was too quick with my visit, as if there were several patients he had to get through, but I was the only one there. He was not thorough, and I didn't get to fully explain all of my symptoms and ask my questions, because he just seemed to be rushing me out of there. He just didn't seem to care at all about me as a patient, like I was in the way of whatever else he had to do that day.
He is excellent. Doctor.
Everyone at the office was very nice! I got to the appointment early and they saw me right away. It was a very nice visit.
Dr. Mendez was really personable and knowledgable. He asked a lot of questions pertaining to my knee issues while running, and had some great suggestions. Appointment started a little late due to an emergency surgery. Highly recommend!
Dr. Mendez was nice, but I felt like there could have been more attention to this issue rather than focusing just on sending me to physical therapy after I had already done that without good results.
It's always a pleasure to meet with a professional, smart, kind, thoughtful doctor. He was so thorough and responsive to my description of my foot pain that he actually caught a diagnosis in my foot that the radiologist had missed!
Dr. Mendez was friendly and helpful. He put my fears at ease and made me feel comfortable. Highly recommend
Dr. Mendez is brief and to-the-point but still incredibly thorough and answered any questions I had, from the initial visit, pre-surgery and post-surgery. I felt very comfortable in his hands, and did a great job with the surgery. I appreciated the call at home to check in on me a day after my shoulder surgery, as well. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Mendez-Zfass told me I had an enflamed muscle and gave me muscle relaxers, when in reality I had a pilonidal cyst which turned into abscess and needed to be surgically removed. He missed a simple diagnosis. Would not ever go back or recommend.
Very knowledgeable and personable.
Dr Mendez-Zfass was extremely professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. A lovely doctor!!
He was knowledgeable. I highly recommend him.
He was great. Told me what was not, & what will help. Told me when to follow up and made sure I had all the recommendations as well as excerises before I left.
They were very attentive. They took me right away and the doctor referred me to get some imaging done. They got the authorization in an hour so I can get the testing done there.
Dr Mendes-Zfass is a professional who truly inspires confidence. I have found him to be responsive, thorough, efficient, personable, and - most importantly - an excellent and effective surgeon! His office staff were pleasant and cooperative and made the whole office and hospital visit seamless.
He's very nice and seems to know his stuff. Offered me a new treatment my former orthopedist did not.
explained everything to me and the options i had.
It was a quickly efficient visit. Dr.Mendez is succinct and is cordial and pleasant. However this particular office in Flushing doesn't appear to be quite up to speed yet. The paperwork I submitted to save time through the patient portal could not be retrieved and had to fill out several forms anyway at the office.
Exceptional all around!
Over a 1 hour 15 minute wait without any sort of apology. Office was musty/hot and office staff was disorganized. Definitely will not return for any kind of follow up... especially since his diagnosis took only 5 minutes to explain to me; he didn't even show me the xray. Next time, I won't rush to get an appointment and will wait to be seen by a doctor affiliated with NY Presbyterian.
Very good, informative doctor who offered me an up-to-date treatment rather than the standard.
Great doctor ! Really easy to talk to and explains throughly
Amazing bedside manner and extremely efficient. Felt incredibly competent and didn't try to over-treat me. I appreciated his candor and follow-up steps. Would highly recommend to friends, family and strangers :)
I was very impressed with Dr. Mendez. He saw me right away, his office was very efficient in getting additional imaging scheduled, and he followed up with me right away. Would recommend.
Excellent treatment by Dr Mendez! Super friendly and professional.
Dr. Mendez is awesome. Definitely the youngest doctor I've come across, but he definitely knows trade. He is very responsive and will always keep you informed of any updates in diagnostics.
Doctor Mendez is great. Enough said
Dr Mendez is awesome. Very friendly yet direct.
Very helpful all the way around. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left, the staff and doctors were wonderful!
The wait time was awful. Doctors receptions was very rude and acted like its no big deal to wait for doctors for hours. The doctor took patients without their turn.
Could not be happier with my experience with Dr. Mendez. From the initial visit to post-op, I knew I was in great hands. Surgery is not fun by any means but it was as smooth as could possibly be. I could not speak higher of this surgeon.
Good doctor, sent me for MRI, diagnosed and sent me for PT, doesn't try to cut into you for surgery immediately. I appreciate that more than anything. I highly recommend.
Experience with Dr. Mendez-Zfass was quick and very informative. He didn't just provide a quick solution, but explained the issue and gave me options. Left feeling both better and more knowledgeable.
Easy to communicate with. Understood what was wrong, did what he thought was necessary to treat me. No complaints. Happy with experience
Dr Mendez is awesome. The waiting room was a bit of a zoo but grateful that the wait was only 25 min
Friendly and courteous staff and doctor. Very professional.
I showed up 15 minutes early for my appointment to fill out the necessary paperwork. Unfortunately, I still had to wait for more than 45 minutes to see Dr. Mendez-Zfass. He had great bedside manner, spent time explaining his diagnosis, and gave a reasonable solution.
Fantastic doctor and staff! He saw me right away and had a wonderful bedside manner.
The office receptionist is cheerful and friendly, a real pleasure. Dr. Mendez is thorough and efficient although I did have to wait about 40 minutes.
DR Mendez was very kind, to the point, and very easy on the eyes. I'm sure He will take care of my problem. He is my third opinion.
I was comfortable and happy to be heard. I think I picked the right specialist.
Dr. Mendez was extremely helpful and beyond kind. He went out of his way to give me the utmost care and make sure I had everything I needed. He called me multiple times on my mobile phone every step of the way with the results and his professional guidance. After deciding to get the surgery in my home state, Dr. Mendez put me into direct contact with a friend and college who happened to be another great orthopedic surgeon. I am extremely grateful for his expertise and guidance and would highly recommend him. Not only is he a great doctor, but also a caring and sincere individual.
Dr. Mendez was thorough, prompt and personable. Can't really ask for more in a doc.
Professional, reassuring and humble. Look forward to surgery with Dr. Mendez.
Made appointment with this doctor, since I could not wait any longer for my specialist. The office called me to ask can the appointment be an hour later than zocdoc appointment time. The waiting area is under construction, office not computerized. Filling out of paperwork took 20 min, appointment less than 5 min. The doctor almost ignored my condition, and preferred to do small talk with me, was interrupting me with other questions not about my concern, then talk about himself. Only thing he confirmed my treatment from urgent care is correct. Did not get the full picture but jumped to conclusion about my condition. Did not answer questions about physical therapy, should I be careful, what to do next etc..basically said I can do whatever I want..I left confused and lost, I was barely walking at this point and was in lot of pain. The secretary was rude and unprofessional. He told her to give me back to work date and doctors note, and she was being difficult. The visit did not help at all. Don't understand all good reviews.
Very informative. Great bedside manners. I needed an MRI and X ray and he walked me downstairs and made sure I was given immediate attention. I would highly recommend him.
Easy to talk to, quick diagnosis, didn't push unnecessary procedures on me for a simple back injury.
Honest person , professional knowledge , gave diagnostic without any bullshit, as I get from previous Ortoped . Highly recommended!
Dr Mendez was very professional and nice. My husband needed a MRI. He recommended the facility downstairs. He even brought us to the place to get us started. Now, that's what I call service.
My visit with Matthew Mendez-Zfass at NY Orthopedics was a very positive experience. He took the time to thoroughly listen to my problems and all my questions were answered. This was my first time at NY Orthopedics and the customer service from the minute I walked in was wonderful. I highly recommend Matthew Mendez-Zfass for any of your orthopedic needs.
He was very good I would recommend him to anyone looking for good doctor.
