About Dr. Matthew Petrie
Dr. Matthew Petrie was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa honors society. He attended medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC, where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. Dr. Matthew Petrie performed his internship at Wake Forest University Hospital before he completed his dermatology residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He remained in Philadelphia to complete a Mohs micrographic surgery / procedural dermatology fellowship at the Dermatologic SurgiCenter.
Dr. Matthew Petrie is board certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. In addition, he is a fellowship trained Mohs micrographic surgeon and is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery. Dr. Matthew Petrie has published articles in dermatologic surgery / Mohs surgery publications.
Dr. Petrie lives in Pittsburgh with his wife Julie, who is a dentist, and 3 young sons. He enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, swimming, running, reading, eating, and traveling.

I was taken back at the exact time of my appointment. No long wait in the waiting room. This is the reason my husband and I switched dermatologist. The Dr. my family has seen for over 20years double and triple books appointments and the last wait time for my husband was over an hour and the wiaiting room was full with no empty seats. We tried Dr. Petrie and will continue with his practice. Such a welcome change!

The staff was amazing, very polite. The wait time was about 5-10 minutes, mainly because I had to fill out paperwork being a new patient. Once I was in the exam room I was done within 10 minutes. The doctor was so pleasant and put me at complete ease when removing my mole. Never felt a thing except the small pinch from the needle to numb me.

The exam was very thorough , but I would have liked to have been informed that he was going to examine my face before he started, since I was unaware about that part of the exam. I am a patient who appreciates knowing what the doctor is doing before hand. He did seem a bit rushed at the end of my exam, but he was very nice overall.

I've been looking for a dermatologist who treats me like a patient versus a number, and Dr. Petrie did just that. His entire staff is very professional, friendly, helpful and courteous. I have already recommended this establishment to people.
