Getting to know Dr. Meh Jabeen Hussain

DR. HUSSAIN TAKES NO INSURANCE. ALL APPOINTMENTS ARE FEE-FOR-SERVICE ONLY. THERE IS A FEE FOR ANY CANCELLATIONS MADE WITHIN 48 HOURS OF YOUR APPOINTMENT. ALL VISITS ARE VIRTUAL AT THIS TIME. Dr. Hussain is a highly reputable Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist, and has been in practice for more than 23 years. She works with patients age 4-50 years old. She completed her General Psychiatry training at Loyola University Medical Center and continued to sub-specialize in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by completing her fellowship at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center. She is an active member in the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She has worked in many different settings including inpatient hospital programs, partial hospital programs, private practice, community mental health, residential care, tele-psychiatry and correctional facilities. Dr. Hussain has extensive knowledge in the treatment of various psychiatric disorders including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), mood disorders including bipolar disorder and depression, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, autism spectrum disorders and behavioral disorders. She works closely with families, schools, and therapists to provide a comprehensive treatment plan for all of her patients. Her goal will be to help determine the right medication regimen, if appropriate, for you or your family member.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with patients as young as 4 years old and typically not older than 55 years of age. My specialty as a Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist means that in addition to being a medical doctor, I have specially trained to treat patients with mental health illnesses. I will work to set up a treatment plan, regular visits, and the expectations I have during our visits. I am a great listener and a great planner. Patients have been with me for years, and some were children when they first started seeing me. My reward comes from your success and stabilization. That is my goal.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My style is collaborative, comprehensive and communicative. From the beginning, I want to know your treatment goals and we come up with a reasonable plan of action to help get you there. I will recommend certain treatment, which may involve medicine, and how I feel it will benefit you. I will also give other reasonable treatment options (including no treatment) and the risks and benefits of all the options. I want to ensure you feel well-informed and comfortable with your treatment choice. I work to comprehensively understand you and all the factors that may influence your mental health- your upbringing, social life, religious/spiritual beliefs, physical health, and more. If I feel certain factors are getting in the way of your optimal mental health, we therapeutically work through it. I may give additional recommendations- such as marital counseling, a visit to your primary care doctor, or adding physical activity to your routine. I also want to highlight and encourage the important parts of you that are helpful to your overall wellbeing: your religious/spiritual beliefs, your hobbies, your social connections, future plans and dreams. Most of all, my goal is not only to help you or your family members, but to continue to help you as a patient in my practice for years to come if necessary. I value the doctor-patient relationship and will always strive to help you in all your mental health needs.

She was very professional and helpful. She made me feel like I could talk to her and tell her exactly what I needed to say.

I loved her! She took her time with me and I felt that she truly cared for my well being. I cannot wait to see her again.
She didn't know I was there, even though I confirmed with someone over the phone that I was coming. Ridiculous.
Dr. Hussain was open minded and heard what I had to say. I left the appointment feeling like I was listened to.
She was fantastic and very kind and patient. Highly knowledgeable and professional-- definitely recommend.
The doctor was very professional. She explained everything to me perfectly. I would highly recommend her.
I like her a lot; she listens to my concerns regarding medications and adjusts so they best work for me.

I am always in good hands when I visit with Dr. Hussain. She's amazing & caring. Recommended indeed.
I got lots of knowlege about what I am getting perscribed. I was able to open up and have to speak.
Professional, immediate appointment times available, thorough conversation, and very personable.
She does not listen very well, when asked for medication change. And her rates are ridiculous.
Even though COVID has made it hard Dt. Hussein has always communicated well . Appreciated

Never recieved my call for my application and I’m out of medication. I’m quite upset
Verified patient
Nothing to do with the doctor I just felt more frustrated than what I was when I went in
Didn't wait long for the st. Charles office. Definitely coming back to visit her again.
The actual appointment is good, but there can be a long wait at times.
It was ok , but waiting an hour after appointment was aggravating.
Verified patient
She listened and provided feedback about my child’s condition.
She is absolutely wonderful!! I highly recommend her to anyone!!
Doctor Hussain was engaged in my needs and very professional.
Verified patient
She does not return calls and the wait time is horrendous!
Very understanding and motivated to help with guidance.
Verified patient
Got me the help I needed. I felt very comfortable with her.
Always effecient caring and professional. Very satisfied
She takes forever to see me , I run out of medicine
This is the second or third time this doctor hasn’t even bothered to confirm my appointment with her, and she has completely blew off each appointment I had scheduled. I called and texted the provider well before the visit to see if there was intake paperwork to fill out and to confirm the appointment, multiple times, and never talked to her or anyone from her office. And didnt receive so much as a courtesy call after having wasted my time. Completely disrespectful and unprofessional. My time is no less valuable than Dr. Hussain’s…I wish she understood that as well. Communicate with your clients, you are a mental health professional.

She never mailed my script twice after paid appointments and there is no possible way of getting in touch with her when a problem arises. When someone is trusting their meds will arrive that they’ve been consistently taking for 19 years and a high dose, I would prefer not to play flip the coin if I’m going to receive a call for the appointment and if she actually calls, will I actually receive my meds? When you can no longer trust your doctor, well that says it all right there (I was a long term patient and am truly upset as I believe these changes in office routine from in person to phone is what was the change). I even drove to the location as it said in person at one point and no one was there). I’m seeing a new doctor for in person visits now and missed having her apart of my monthly routine which is why I tried one last time through here. I tried halfway through the month before my next scheduled appointment with my newer doctor. I booked the open time and no call.
Terrible !

Was supposed to have an appointment yesterday at 5pm. never received the phone call and left several voicemails. in the past, she had been at least 2 hours late for each appointment and i don’t feel as if she actually listened to any of my concerns and was not much assistance in terms of increasing my dose of sleep meds/starting me on meds for ADHD again.
Verified patient
She listens very well and knows what medication would work. I’ve know been her patient for 12 plus years and have been very happy with her.

Professional yet cool and nice.
Very nice and understandings.
It is understandable that a person would become frustrated with having to wait longer than expected for a health need. It’s also sorta understandable to feel like your own health need is more important and more necessary and needed than someone else that may have access to less resources than you. But all of these things become quite unimportant when you receive mental healthcare from a provider that never rushes a you, never judges or implements any sort of bias in your treatment, and responds to your individual health needs. Dr. Hussain works with you in however way you’re willing to work with her in your treatment. She is the most mindful physician I’ve ever worked with and has a gentle compassion that allows you the space to reclaim your dignity when facing health issues.

Welcoming, attentive, and professional

I really like her. She is incredibly knowledgeable and I’m looking forward to trying a new medication that she recommended. I feel that she diagnosed my condition correctly and am on a good path in her care.
Doesn’t listen to what I’m telling her. Although she is very nice. She is not willing to try different medications for my add. Which would be excellent. And keeps forcing cymbalta on me
She is amazing.

I'm always apprehensive meeting new doctors & mental health is a very difficult thing to discuss. Dr Hussain immediately put me at ease. Her "bedside" manner is perfect & she is very compassionate.

Dr. Hussain was great. She made me feel very comfortable and was great at explaining everything. I left feeling informed about my treatment
This was our family's first visit. Our son has responded to the medication and Dr. Hussain had some good thoughts to share with us. We are looking forward to more growth and progress in our son as we are new to the area.
She is basically a pill pusher! Charges She barely even looks at you, has her nose in her computer the whole time! Won't refill your script unless you see her, so she can charge you! She called and canceled my appointment, and rescheduled because she had something more important. I told her my script needed to be refilled, I wouldn't have enough to make it to the new appointment date. She said she would take care of it, well she didn't!! Walgreen's gave me an emergency supply, while they reached out to her. I called 4 days in a row, no reply to me or Walgreen's! I called the 5th day, and the answering service told me she wanted to know if I could come in that day at 5:00pm. I told them I couldn't because of my schedule. I run out completely today, and start having bad side affects! She only cares about the money, not you!! Do yourself a favor and find a good Doctor!!!!
After Several apts. always a very long wait time. Never refilled prescriptions in a timely manner. Didn’t tell me that she didn’t take my insurance after it changed until after my apt so I had to pay all cash. I had to quit one medication cold turkey because it took over 5 messages to her “answering service” (which is really just a Regis building room) and 2 messages from my pharmacy with still no call back. How unprofessional for a psychiatrist! I should have listened to the other bad reviews before giving her a try. I’m reporting her to the AMA over this.
Was good, real professional.
Ok
Very professional and attentive
Should have listened to other reviews, waited nearly an hour after my appointment time to see the dr, was only in there maybe 15 minutes and she answered her phone in the middle of my appointment. I was very unimpressed, I won't be returning.
I didnt really feel like I got the answer or help I was looking for. I didnt feel genuinely cared about as a patient. I think helping people to come to better state of mind is a great responsibility that shouldnt be taken lightly or as if its 'just a job'. Nothing personal against the doc. Just wasn't the right doctor for me. Thank you.
She wants to treat you her way, and when mymedication that she proscribed had bed side effects she didn't even call me or my pharmacy back. Her secratetary told me "I can't do anything but give her message if it is emergency go to hospital". That's the first psychiatris that I had that does not call back her patients.
she took 3 phone calls in the 20 minutes I was with her after waiting 45 (or more) minutes for my 5:00 appointment! Very disappointing.
Dr. Hussain is easy to talk to, but she was very quick to prescribe meds (within 15 minutes of my first appointment). Subsequent appointments were just about how the meds felt, not my depression/anxiety.
