Getting to know Dr. Melanie Paci

It can be hard deciding you want help and are worthy of it. Whether your challenges arise from trauma, relationships, life transitions, loss, parenting, or work, ultimately what you may be seeking is a change in your relationship to yourself. I will help you discover a new way to be with your emotions, in both the trials and the triumphs. I offer curiosity and warmth in a therapy relationship that can be your catalyst for change. I hold a PsyD and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University, Brookville, which inform my science-based approach to therapy. My approach: Honoring strengths Let’s acknowledge and build on your strengths and the steps you have already taken to create lasting change. Values-based We will identify and clarify what values matter most to you, which will motivate and guide therapy and healing. Healthy risk-taking We will deepen your understanding of your history, approaching the “difficult stuff” with care and compassion, and be open to experimenting with new ways of being. Science-informed Effective therapy adapts evidence-based approaches to your unique style of relating. Authentic Fostering an atmosphere where people of all identities feel accepted and comfortable sharing their experience, I welcome connecting to your story from a real place within myself. Creative Embracing spontaneity, we will consider experiential creative processes, including metaphor, meditation, humor, reading, writing, drawing, and music. Collaborative I often check in to ensure you feel supported and to discuss how therapy is working, so we can refine the approach together. Compassionate Emotional suffering and the shame that often comes with it become more tolerable when shared with someone who responds with kindness and empathy. Compassion is central to my work, and together we can help you be kinder to yourself and the important people in your life.
