About Dr. Melissa Auer
Philosophy of Care
I approach each patient interaction with an open mind and open ears. I strive to listen not only to what the patient is saying but also to what they may not be expressing, in order to understand the whole story and treat the patient as a whole. I believe it's important to empower each patient to take an active role in their care.
Why I Entered Medicine
I enjoyed learning about something I could directly relate to. Once I began working directly with patients, I realized there is much more to being a physician than prescribing and diagnosing. It involves detective work: listening carefully, relating to patients, and supporting them when needed. It is a very fulfilling career-always evolving and keeping you on your toes.
Education and Training
I earned my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, where I also obtained a certificate. I completed my residency in Internal Medicine at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown. Prior to medical school, I earned my bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University.
Personal Interests
I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring the area to find new places to go, trying new restaurants, and revisiting the oldies but goodies.

Dr. Auer listened to what my complaints were and devised a plan for my treatment. When I explained my concerns, she agreed that I needed to try something new. The outcome was exactly what I was looking for. In a recent online conversation with Dr. Auer she congratulated me for my progress and that made me feel proud and as though I accomplished something very good concerning my health. I look forward to my continued positive progress and my next appointment.
