My name is Melissa Buss, I am a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who is committed to providing comprehensive mental health care to individuals across the lifespan. With a background in nursing and advanced training in psychiatry, I possess the skills and expertise to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of psychiatric disorders. With over a decade of expertise, I have served as an outpatient clinician in Minnesota addressing the mental health needs of individuals in rural settings.
My approach
I possess a comprehensive understanding of psychiatric disorders across the lifespan and am skilled in conducting thorough psychiatric assessments, formulating evidence-based treatment plans, managing psychotropics and providing compassionate care to individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns.
My focus
I typically see patients struggling with depression, anxiety, and ADHD, but I am also able to diagnose and treat other mental health illnesses.
My communication style
It is important that my patients feel comfortable discussing any mental health concerns without feeling judged. I take a less clinical approach, which allows my patients to feel at ease. I am passionate about mental health education and advocacy, and I am committed to raising awareness about mental health issues, reducing stigma, and promoting access to care for all individuals.
My journey to mental healthcare
Working in mental health has been so rewarding for me. I truly enjoy each and every one of my patients. I am able to see how the treatment of depression, anxiety, etc., affects everyday functioning, including relationships, social life, and work. It is exciting for me to see my patients work towards their goal of mental health
