Getting to know Dr. Meredith Harewood

Meredith Harewood, MD, is board-certified in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She considers the entire person and how they function within their social and cultural environment rather than simply a constellation of symptoms. She believes that the best treatment results from the bio-psycho-social approach to mental health. She provides medication management, psychotherapy in select cases, or a combination of the two. Her interests include anxiety disorders, depression, minority mental health, and maternal mental health. In addition to treating children as young as age 5 and adolescents, she is also trained in managing ADHD and psychotic disorders and is familiar with managing autism spectrum disorders and oppositional behavior. Psychotherapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, mindfulness techniques, and behavioral techniques. Dr. Harewood graduated with a Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine in 2012. She completed her residency in General Psychiatry at the University of Southern California (LAC+USC) and her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Irvine campus. During residency, Dr. Harewood worked in the Maternal Wellness Clinic at LAC+USC.
