“From the very start I had gone online looking for a " Client- centered " Psychiatrist. I made a list of " candidates." I labeled Dr. Byrne as " promising." I have not been disappointed one bit. As for the visit( s): In his style Dr. Byrne guides me with very pertinent questions as I give an account of the issue( s) at hand. Dr. Byrne shows insight when making commentaries/ suggestions & presenting options. I feel that Dr. Byrne is very much on top of things as well as being on tap ( available, accessible, open.) I expect to continue with this positive nature of our Client- Doctor relationship through the good, the bad & the ugly in my life. ”

What should a new client know about working with you?

Although Dr. Byrne is skilled in the management of complex pharmacotherapy, he prefers to treat patients holistically and individually. In many cases, the treatment approach consists of psychotherapy (often in conjunction with a separate psychotherapist), lifestyle changes, and, when warranted, pharmacotherapy. As Medical Director of the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Clinic at Rush University, Dr. Byrne can help identify if TMS would be a warranted intervention as well. If appropriate, he can facilitate enrollment in TMS at Rush. You are the most knowledgeable person on your on your own experience. My approach is one of open curiosity about you and your goals applied to my training and experience of how to treat psychiatric symptoms and disorders and achieve those goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We believe that in-person visits are typically more valuable for patients and more informative for me than most video visits. Allotting a specific time and physical space devoted toward your mental wellness and goals is the first step. Currently, we have clinic availability on Tuesday afternoons. With long-term patients that are stable, video visits may optionally be incorporated throughout the course of treatment.
