“I am a 75 y/o retired family physician who recently moved from Mississippi to Texas, and needed to re-establish appropriate consultants for my few problems. My new FP referred me to Dr.
Guirl for follow-up of some personal GI issues. After 50 years of practice, I was happy to meet Dr. Guirl and instantly felt comfortable

About Dr. Michael Guirl
Dr. Guirl joined Gastroenterology Consultants of San Antonio in 2004 after completing his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas, Austin. His interests include screening colonoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, hepatology, as well as therapeutic and capsule endoscopy. Dr. Guirl is active in several professional organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology and the Bexar County Medical Society. He is the current President of the Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. He and his wife are originally from San Antonio and have three children. Dr. Guirl is a competitive swimmer and enjoys traveling, scuba diving, and college football.

This was my first time seen Dr Guirl. He was very attentive, he listened carefully and he asked me questions and he explained to me what he thinks it could me my problem. He took his time and he wasn’t in a rush like other doctors. He is nice and kind. He order an endoscopy to find out exactly what I have. And he gave me some pain medication. I would give him a 6th star but they only have 5.

Dr. Guirl was his usual charming self.He discussed the medicine I had started using in March and agreed to change the dosage. and do a follow-up in November.
