Dr. Schumacher is a podiatric surgeon board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the former chair of the medical advisory committee of the United States Squash Racquets Association. He is on staff in the Department of Orthopedics at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital. He holds an academic appointment at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Podiatrist in the Department of Orthopedics, where he has been on staff since 1998.
Dr. Schumacher graduated from the University at Stony Brook in 1986 and earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. He completed a three-year podiatric surgical residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, a major teaching affiliate of the NY Presbyterian Hospital network. His training emphasized foot and ankle reconstructive surgery, as well as nonsurgical treatment of other foot disorders, including fungal and dermatological problems, along with sports medicine.
Dr. Schumacher has been in private practice since finishing his surgical training in 1996. He feels his hands-on, personalized approach to patient care sets him apart from other practitioners in the tri-state area.
