I treat psychiatric conditions using the bio-psycho-social framework. Psychiatric illnesses may have biological causes, such as thyroid problems, the effects of chemotherapy, strokes, or genetic predisposition. They may also have psychological causes, including a lack of coping skills, difficulty processing situations, or early life experiences. Finally, psychiatric disorders can have sociological explanations, like overwhelming expectations within one's social setting or drastic changes in one's environment. It is my duty to determine the best path to achieve positive outcomes by utilizing available resources to make meaningful changes. Sometimes medications are necessary; other times, talk therapy is essential. Often, both approaches are used together. Everyone's needs are unique, and I develop specific, individualized treatment plans through collaboration with my patients. I treat a wide variety of psychiatric disorders, especially mood and anxiety disorders, which are the two most common psychiatric issues in our community. I have a particular interest in women's mental health, including managing peripartum psychiatric disorders and eating disorders. I earned my Doctor of Medicine degree from New York Medical College, which laid the foundation for my comprehensive approach to psychiatric care.
