About Mikayla Hopwood

Many people feel as if their medical providers are judging them. I want my patients to feel the opposite of that: accepted, empowered and supported. I am committed to working with each patient to understand their current medical situation, as well as any roadblocks preventing them from leading a healthier life. I believe education, prevention and compassionate care are keys to improving each patient's quality of life. My years as a registered nurse helped me develop strong patient relationships and a deep appreciation for holistic care. Now, as a family nurse practitioner, I can provide comprehensive care across the lifespan while addressing both acute and chronic concerns. I listen to each patient, address their concerns with empathy and involve them in shared decision making. I want patients to trust me with their care because I am committed to ethical practice, clinical excellence and ongoing professional development. I'm a native of West Virginia, but have moved around quite a bit. My husband served in the U.S. Army, which led us to Tennessee and Oklahoma. We relocated to North Carolina so my husband could attend law school. We love exploring our new area, but still stay true to our roots by cheering on West Virginia University and the Tennessee Titans during football season. We also enjoy staying active with our dog, Emma, and spending time outdoors. We take any chance we get to go to the beach.
