Getting to know Millicent Brown
Millicent Brown is an experienced, board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, bringing over 20 years of healthcare experience to Willow Health. Ms. Brown received her Master’s in Nursing from Mount Saint Mary College in 2004, Post Masters Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University, and her Doctor of Health Education from A.T. Still University in 2010.
She has experience working with a range of populations from children to geriatrics. In addition to her extensive clinical experience, she has been an assistant and adjunct professor for several nursing programs and has served on several healthcare committees.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My goal in caring for you is to empower you with knowledge to explore treatment options that include medication management and psychotherapy modalities. I will also provide quality, plain language healthcare education that will empower you to achieve optimal mental wellness.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Willow Health provides short term virtual crisis care for individuals in mental health crises. Our team of psychiatrists, therapists, nurse practitioners, and certified peers create personalized care plans, offering 24/7 crisis support during your time in our program.
Our services are short term in nature, lasting between 8-12 weeks depending on your needs. This means that at the end of your time with us, we’ll make sure you’re connected to ongoing care and support to continue your recovery outside of Willow Health.
Part of our services include an 8 week, virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for those who qualify. Be sure to let me know if you are interested in exploring this option.
Getting started is simple. You can schedule an initial assessment as soon as today virtually, from the comfort of your home. Your first meeting will last about 90 minutes. You’ll talk with a me and a psychiatrist or psychiatric NP who will help design a treatment plan that works for you. Depending on your needs, your care may include medication management, therapy (including specialized support for thoughts of self harm) and care management. Additionally you’ll have the option to participate in recovery coaching, which includes working with a peer recovery coach, someone who has lived experience with mental health and/or substance use, and who will support you through your recovery journey.
Our office is open Monday - Friday from 11a-7p ET with access to an after hours nursing triage line.
