About Dr. Mina Abdelshahed

Dr. Mina Abdelshahed, a native of Union, NJ, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon. He graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and a minor in Psychology. Dr. Abdelshahed then attended Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Society.
After medical school, he completed his internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. During his residency, Dr. Abdelshahed earned the notable distinction of being selected by the faculty and administration to serve as an Administrative Chief Resident. He received a wide range of orthopaedic training from nationally and internationally recognized surgeons considered leaders in their fields. He completed his training at University Hospital, where he gained extensive experience managing all aspects of orthopaedic trauma. Dr. Abdelshahed was nominated multiple times by medical students for the Golden Apple Resident Teaching Award for excellence in teaching and, upon graduation, was the recipient of the Orthopaedic Resident Teaching Award.
Dr. Abdelshahed developed a keen interest in treating shoulder and elbow injuries, which led him to complete a fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the prestigious New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan, NY. The fellowship provided him with broad experience and expanded his ability to treat any condition of the shoulder, elbow, and upper extremity using a multitude of interventions, including surgical and non-surgical options. After his fellowship, Dr. Abdelshahed was excited to return home to give back to the community that helped him grow into the person he is today.

Seeing Dr. Mina was great. I was lucky to be seen so quickly. I waited about 10 mins. He analyzed my situation and communicated his concerns regarding my injury concisely. Mina Abdelshahed is the one of the worst doctors I have ever met in my life. Dismissive, doesn’t seem to care about patient at all. When he walked out of the room he said ‘my god’. Like seeing a patient is too much to ask for him. Avoid him at all cost

This was my first time at OrthoNJ in Linden. I was happy with the staff and thought Dr. Mina was very nice, helpful and understanding. He wants to see me back in one month to see how I’m doing. I went there on Nov. 30, 2022 for the pain in my left shoulder. I didn’t have to wait long and moved from one room to the next very quickly. I would recommend Dr. Mina to anyone having shoulder pain.

It seemed I went at a busy time because I waited a bit before I saw the doctor. I had a quick X-ray taken and then when it finally came time for our sit down, I had maybe 3-5 minutes one on one. I left with three prescriptions but without 100% understanding what was wrong with my back. This had nothing to do with a lack of knowledge on the doctor’s part, to be sure, but was due to my (first time) visit being very rushed. On top of that, I found out the actual visit cost was ridiculously high! This was before insurance, but I am stunned that a simple analysis of an X-ray, less than 5 minutes of conversation with the patient, and writing three scripts cost that much. I’m disappointed with the whole experience.
