Dr. Mohab Foad, MD

Hand Surgeon, Orthopedic Surgeon

Professional statement

I grew up in a medical family in Cincinnati, always knowing that I wanted to follow the example set by my parents; caring for others as if they were family. I was named after my uncle who was paralyzed in a diving accident as a child. He inspired me to study orthopaedics so that I could help patients remain functional and independent, and his courage and perseverance to overcome the obstacles life put before him continue to motivate me to this day. I am an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of hand and upper extremity disorders, and reconstructive microsurgery. I received my undergraduate degree from The John Hopkins University, and then returned to Cincinnati to complete medical training and orthopaedic residency at the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine. I pursued additional Fellowship training at The Indiana Hand Center, then came home to Cincinnati in 2005 joining the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University Of Cincinnati. There I had the opportunity to educate orthopaedic and plastic surgery residents and fellows in hand and upper extremity surgery. I was a member of the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Brachial Plexus and Hand Centers, and also served as the orthopaedic consultant to the Shriner’s Burn Institute prior to joining Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in 2009. I enjoy treating adults and children with upper extremity disorders from the shoulder to the fingertips, from the simplest to the most complex. The experience I gained while at the University of Cincinnati has allowed me to treat the entire upper extremity, regardless of the nature of the problem. I have a particular interest in minimally invasive treatments

Dr. Foad came highly recommened to me by a physician friend. Dr. Foad and his Physician’s Assistant did not disappoint - quick diagnosis and on the spot injection as first step/least invasive procedure to treat an annoying trigger finger.

As always, Dr. Foad was very kind, very attentive and very professional. He actually listens to what you have to say and always treats you with respect. He exhibits great patience and I have never known him to behave, as manyother doctors I know have, as thought you are stupid or an imposition. I will always be grateful for the care that I have received from him and the staff t Beacon and highly recommend them every chance I get.

I was hit by a car. I wanted to talk about this with Dr. Foad. This is what I would have said to him... I was walking my dog and then I was hit by a 70ish yr old woman whowas driving on the wrong side of the road exceeding the speed limit of 25 MPH. .Her 3000 lb Vehicle hit me walking my dog. I flew into the air, unconsicous, and landed on my left side. Ever since then my left arm and shoulder has been hurting me. I can't lift my arm without it hurting me. Now I have arthritis in that shoulder. In my mind I think that the accident caused this arthritis. I don;t have arthritis in my right arm or shoulder.

I was really annoyed my daughter and I had to wait an hour to be seen especially when I was asked by the office to move the appointment up an hour. However the dr won me over quickly. He had agreat bedside manner, was very knowledgeable and took the time to examine and then explain everything to my daughter who was the patient. She appreciated that he spoke to her like an adult even drawing her a diagram! I thought he was just awesome! I would highly recommend him.

After being dismissed by another practice for recovery and therapy time too long Dr. Foad did not hesitate to accept my request to alleviate my hand pain. In my early 60's I want to be able to hold, and love myinfant granddaughter without the fear of dropping her because of the sharp, stabbing pain in my hands. Dr. Foad surgically removed the affected arthritic bone from my thumb, reconnected the thumb with a ligament from my forearm. Within 4 weeks of surgery I was using my hand without pain. I am so glad I selected Dr. Foad for my surgeon; a very knowledgeable, compassionate, and caring surgeon! Thank you and thank you to your entire staff.

The doc and staff was OUTSTANDING. THe paperwork was ridiculous. Intake forms required the same information repeatedly (5 forms, 5 different requirements to write name, dob, why I'm there, what's the complaint, who's next of kin, etc). It'snot 1970. Get an app, ask the same question ONE TIME, and populate it in the 10 places that you need it. Also, I put all this information in using ZOCDOC and seemingly NONE of it transferred because I was asked all over again (eg: scanned my card, front and back, but still needed to scan my card front and back at the docs office. Scale of 1-10 on EFFICIENCY of intake forms: not quite a 1.

It's always a pleasure! The receptionist always address me by my first name, and is so pleasant. The x-ray technician was very professional and made sure the x-rays were of the area of concern for surgery. The Physician Assistant, Brittany,is so personable that she makes a nervous situation very relaxed. I have recommend this group to friends and family.
