Raised in Los Angeles, CA, Dr. Ursani earned his Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from UCLA. His early research in immunology and gene expression sparked a passion for autoimmunity and Rheumatology. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Seton Hall University’s School of Health Sciences in New Jersey, where he also served as Chief Resident. He then pursued a Rheumatology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. During fellowship, he was selected among the top 40 Rheumatology Fellows nationwide for musculoskeletal ultrasound training through USSONAR. He also conducted research at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, focusing on osteoporosis in breast cancer survivors. Dr. Ursani holds triple board certifications in Rheumatology, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Rheumatology, and Internal Medicine. He has taught as faculty at the University of Houston School of Medicine’s Internal Medicine Residency Program and is a Fellow of both the American College of Physicians (FACP) and the American College of Rheumatology (FACR). An accomplished speaker and author, Dr. Ursani has presented nationally and published in peer-reviewed journals. He has received awards for clinical investigation and excellence in teaching and research. Dr. Ursani is deeply involved in advocacy and leadership. He serves as Chairman of the Communications and Marketing Committee for the American College of Rheumatology, is a graduate of the Texas Medical Association Leadership College, a delegate for Texas healthcare policy, and a physician ambassador for the Harris County Medical Society. He has been recognized as a Texas “Super Doctor” and “Best Rheumatologist” in Living Magazine every year since 2019. Outside of medicine, Dr. Ursani enjoys family time, playing guitar, and long-distance running. He aims to complete all six World Marathon Majors.
