Psychologist

A sense of loss of self and direction in life in our ever-dynamic society can create emotional pain, self-doubt, and confusion. It sometimes becomes difficult to hold onto a sense of hope and imagine a better future. Emotional struggle can cause a feeling of disconnect from others and negatively impact relationships. Through collaborative work, psychotherapy can help you listen to your inner voice, understand your emotional pain, rediscover your authentic self, and rebuild your inner strength. It can help you cope with everyday challenges, be content in the present moment, thrive for the future with a sense of empowerment, and reconnect with important people in your life. My approach to psychotherapy is based on psychodynamic therapy, but my work is also influenced by existential therapy, strength-based therapy, mindfulness, and spirituality, which I have come to deeply appreciate through my experience of working with complex cultural issues, trauma, grief and loss, end-of-life issues, death and dying, and serious medical conditions, as well as depression, anxiety, and severe mental illness. I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University. I also conduct psychotherapy in English and Japanese.
