About Dr. Monika Stevens

Growing up, I was the neighborhood babysitter and often helped kids with their homework. I had a few part-time teaching and tutoring jobs and thought I would become a teacher, but I also loved science. Before we were married, my husband said to me, "Hey, you should try being a doctor." It turned out to be the perfect job for me because I get to merge my love of science with my passion for educating families and helping patients. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from Vanderbilt University and completed my residency at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles County+University of Southern California Medical Center. These experiences have shaped my approach to pediatric care. There are a million different ways to be a parent. There's no one right way?the right way is the way that fits your family. I realize there's the real world and then there's the book world, and you try to figure out what works best for your family. My job as a pediatrician is to give parents the tools and confidence to take care of their kids themselves. I offer parents all the options available so they can make the best choice for their family. There is no greater feeling than when we are all on the same page, working together to support the well-being of their child.
