About Monique Kahn

Located in the heart of Belmont Center, MA, I am a clinical dietitian with over 15 years of experience specializing in helping individuals explore nutritional changes that can lead to improved health. My path to becoming a dietitian has been indirect but fruitful in shaping my approach. As an undergraduate at Brown University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree, I double-majored in English and Biology while considering careers in medicine or writing. Hearing reports from new doctors about limits on patient contact time that sometimes impaired treatment, I initially veered toward biomedical research. During my years as a researcher, I found myself consistently drawn to nutrition-related studies in my free time. I realized I wanted to translate current research into practical information for the public. Fast forward five years: with additional degrees in nutrition, including a Master’s in Nutrition Communication from Tufts University, and experience working as a medical writer, I longed for a missing element—individual counseling. In my next role at Walden Behavioral Care, I exclusively treated individuals with eating disorders and comorbid mental health conditions. For nearly two decades, I have helped clients at McLean Hospital achieve their health goals. In both my hospital work and private practice, I continue to support those with disordered eating. I also specialize in helping clients manage a variety of inflammatory conditions and chronic diseases aggravated by intestinal dysbiosis (imbalance of the gut microbiome). I have guided many individuals through tailor-made programs to achieve optimal health.
