About Dr. Moris Girgis

Moris Girgis, MD, FAAFP, is board certified in family medicine, sleep medicine, and obesity, and has nearly 40 years of medical experience that includes emergency medicine, surgery, women’s health, men’s health, chronic diseases, wound care, and geriatric medicine. In addition to operating Girgis Family Practice for almost 25 years with his wife, Linda Girgis, MD, FAAFP, he works as a physician at Teladoc. He is affiliated with several hospitals in the South River, New Jersey, area, including Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and is licensed to practice in several states. Dr. Girgis received his medical degree from University of Alexandria Faculty of Medicine in Egypt. He completed a residency in family medicine at St. Luke’s University Hospital/Sacred Heart Hospital in Pennsylvania, and one in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Takla Hospital in Egypt. He also completed internships at University of Alexandria Hospitals and MedStar Health/Harbor Hospital, and a 9 month acupuncture course from the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, sponsored by Harvard Medical School, which gave him the ability to incorporate the principles of Eastern and Western medicine into his practice. Before going into private practice in New Jersey, he shared his expertise at medical facilities in California, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts in the U.S., and in Cairo and Aswan in Egypt. Dr. Girgis is affiliated with the American Academy of Family Practice, American Academy of Obesity Medicine, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Obesity Society, American Medical Association. Fluent in English and Arabic, Dr. Girgis has received many acclaims during his long career, including Physician of the Year 2020, New Jersey Academy Family Physician, Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition Program, and Physician Practice Connections Recognition Program. He and his wife have three children.
