I strive to create a warm and empathetic environment where my clients feel safe enough to explore, question, and process life circumstances. I am truly passionate about helping others increase their self-awareness, and love being a part of a client’s journey to health and happiness as they discover their most authentic self. My name is Moronke Aboyewa, and I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) since 2016. I am based in Maryland but work with clients across multiple states, including Virginia via a HIPAA-protected telehealth platform.
My approach
My approach to treating acute and chronic psychiatric disorders and problems is to make accurate diagnoses and ensure safe prescription of pharmacologic agents and nonpharmacologic interventions. Guides the client in evaluating the appropriate use of complementary and alternative medicine. Apply supportive, psychodynamic, cognitive, behavioral, and other evidence-based psychotherapies along with medication management. Use individualized outcome measures to evaluate psychiatric care and modify treatment plans based on the client’s outcome. Provide culturally competent care, view each client as a unique person, and note a potential relationship between the client’s cultural experiences and the presentation and perception of their symptoms.

I work with persons 18 years and above and specialize in depressive disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, eating disorders, trauma and related disorders, bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, schizoaffective disorder schizophrenia disorder, and dementia using medication management, supportive psychotherapy and or facilitating referral to psychotherapy, counseling, and case management

Filled out all my forms and was ready on the call a few minutes before the appt. There were several repeating forms I had to fill out across three different websites to the point where it felt excessive. I waited 20 minutes and the provider still wasn’t on call. So I called the office number to make sure I got the right link. No answer. Sent her a message. No answer. It’s over 40 minutes past the start of the appointment and I’ve had to call a third number to Rula. I spoke to two different representatives (they were nice) and both tried calling the provider saying that typically they leave some note for them and contact the patient if they can’t show for an appt. After filling out several distressing forms talking about my mental health in detail to only have my time wasted and feel disrespected I can only say I’d never recommend seeing Moronke Aboyewa. Mostly because she probably won’t even see you. Disrespectful and a waste of my time.
