I sought psychiatric care because I have been struggling and was looking for support and medication management. Unfortunately, I left the appointment feeling dismissed and discouraged rather than supported. When I tried to explain what I had been experiencing and asked whether the provider could help me, I was told that we were not a good fit. I understand that not every provider and patient will be the right fit, but I would have appreciated more compassion, explanation, and guidance about what my next steps should be.
