“Dr. Heckman presented his findings with the limited information available. He proposed a game plan after we provide more information through tests. I believe his plan to be sound and feel confident in his proposal. He took time to make sure we understood all the steps required. His staff was very professional, patient and helpful as well. The only sore spot was the wait, but we did request, repeatedly, to be seen ASAP, since we were told this should be treated as a priority. ”

Nathanael Heckmann, M.D. is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Heckmann completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center and pursued a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Rush University Medical Center. His clinical focus is on the surgical and non-surgical management of degenerative diseases of the hip and knee, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and post-traumatic arthritis. His surgical practice emphasizes minimally invasive surgery, hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, infection management, treatment of failed hip and knee replacement, pain management, and accelerated recovery following hip and knee surgery. Dr. Heckmann's research centers on clinical outcomes following hip and knee arthroplasty, with a particular interest in understanding the interrelationship between degenerative diseases of the spine and hip. Additionally, his research explores healthcare economics, health policy, and the social determinants of surgical outcomes following hip and knee replacement surgery.
