About Dr. Nicholas Mataragas

Having attended the University of Miami for the honors program in medicine as well as their prestigious orthopedic surgery residency, Dr. Mataragas is no stranger to Florida. Upon his successful completion of the rigorous 6-year program, he become an officially licensed physician at only 22 years old. Seeking out the most challenging orthopedic residency, he continued his education at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Medical Center. Still longing for a more in depth understanding of the spine, Dr. Mataragas sought out an additional fellowship at the world-renowned Texas Back Institute. His steadfast academic focus allowed him to earn the title “Spine Surgeon” at a mere 28 years old. Conservative care and a thoughtful approach is at the heart of Dr. Mataragas' treatment method. He believes surgery isn’t always necessary and it certainly shouldn’t be the first step. Every patient receives a tailored treatment course to their specific needs and level of disability. He envisions himself playing a pivotal role in helping members of the community achieve an active, healthy and pain free life. Dr. Mataragas is elated to bring his 20+ years of expertise back to South Florida. He looks forward to serving the area in which was so formative of his professional career.
