Getting to know Nicholas (Nick) Bischoff
Hi, my name is Nick and I'm a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serving clients in Kentucky. I specialize in ADHD, anxiety, depression, and insomnia & sleep issues. I’ve been in nursing for 6 years and completed my psychiatric training at Vanderbilt University. I’m passionate about destigmatizing mental healthcare, and together with my colleagues at Lavender Psychiatry, I’m on a mission to create a world where feelings are felt, respected and cared for.

My therapeutic style is characterized by warmth, engagement, and a genuine personal connection. I believe in establishing a strong, collaborative relationship with each client, where we work together to make informed decisions about their treatment. My practice is inclusive and welcoming, embracing diversity in culture, background, and experience. I have worked with a wide range of clients, including students, parents, professionals from various fields, skilled tradespeople, service industry workers, retail employees, entrepreneurs, artists, and technology experts. I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space where each individual feels heard, understood, and empowered to achieve their therapeutic goals.
I became a psychiatric NP because I believe people are capable of more than managing their symptoms - they’re capable of actually healing. I’ve always been drawn to the deeper questions: why we get stuck, why patterns repeat, why insight alone isn’t always enough to create change. Psychiatry felt like the place where I could sit with those questions alongside people and help them find real answers.
My goal has never been to be someone’s prescriber. It’s to be part of the moment when something genuinely shifts, when a pattern that’s been running someone’s life for years finally loosens its grip and they remember who they are underneath it.
Starting treatment can be a scary and intimidating process, I’ve successfully treated many people who are new to psychiatric care.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Booking Process:
Request your appointment time on Zocdoc. My office will email you an online intake form to ensure I’m able to help you. If we’re a fit, we’ll reach out to confirm an appointment time. I try my best to keep slots available each week for new clients.
Your First Visit:
The initial session is a comprehensive, one-hour evaluation which allows me to understand your current symptoms and difficulties, and learn about important aspects of your past psychiatric, medical, social, educational, and family histories. At the end of the session, we’ll determine the best treatment course. Session frequency ranges from weekly to monthly depending on the type of treatment you’re looking for.
If you’re already seeing a therapist, I’m happy to collaborate with them while guiding the medication aspect of your treatment. However, many of my clients see me for both therapy and medication management.
My practice, Lavender Psychiatry, is founded and fueled by board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners who create therapeutic journeys that are kind, convenient and transparent so that people can flourish. We have a fantastic team that works together to ensure our clients are well taken care of. This includes our care concierge team who is available 7 days a week between your appointments, to help answer questions and assist with any issues regarding coverage and prescriptions etc. We also have covering providers in case I’m away and an urgent matter arises.
