About Dr. Nicole Belkin

Belkin, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with expertise in both non-operative and operative treatment of injuries and conditions affecting the knee, shoulder, elbow, and hip. Dr. Belkin earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed her residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. She conducted laboratory research for an additional year at the University of Pennsylvania, where she won the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation's Resident Clinician Scientist Award. Her research received national and international recognition. Dr. Belkin completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Through this advanced training, she gained experience treating articular cartilage injuries, meniscus injury and meniscus deficiency, ligament reconstruction, patellofemoral conditions, early arthritis of the knee, shoulder dislocations and separations, rotator cuff tears, shoulder arthritis, elbow injuries, and hip impingement. She is an expert in minimally invasive and arthroscopic techniques as well as shoulder replacements. Her clinical focus includes the treatment of ligament, cartilage, meniscus, and patellofemoral injuries of the knee; rotator cuff and labrum injuries and arthritis of the shoulder; injuries and overuse conditions of the elbow; and labrum injuries and impingement of the hip. Dr. Belkin provides individualized, state-of-the-art care to athletes of all levels. She has served as an assistant team physician for the New York Giants, an associate team physician for Iona College Athletics, and an orthopedic consultant to the New York Public School Athletic League. She also served as the head team physician at Pace University.

Dr, Belkin and her staff are friendly and knowledgeable, especially the NP we worked with, Angela. Angela was warm and a great listener. Dr Belkin has impressive training and a great deal of experience. During my appointment, she requested additional imaging in order to make an accurate diagnosis. The office staff had the imaging pre-authorized before I even left the office, and got me in for a CT scan that same afternoon. Dr Belkin reviewed the images and called me after her office hours to give us the news that I didn’t need surgery, which we were very grateful for. An admin called me the following morning to make sure I understood next steps and to schedule my follow up. Overall, this was a great experience and I’m so glad I saw Dr Belkin for a second opinion before potentially having unnecessary surgery that would have resulted in more pain and a longer recovery. I highly recommend Dr Belkin and her colleagues to anyone needing orthopedic care.

Could not recommend Dr. Belkin enough! Saw her for a second opinion after ongoing knee pain from another provider at a different practice failed to provide sufficient treatment/follow up. She was a fantastic listener, observer, and communicator of what she was checking, what her diagnosis was, and the overall treatment plan. Thorough appointment and wonderful teamwork with NP, beautifully clean location and wonderful office staff. Grateful to have found her!
Easy parking, ground level. Office staff attentive, competent, and engaged. Only thing that could be improved is the NY Presbyterian mandated method of obtaining patient history , which the patient self-enters on a tablet. The Questions are not open ended, some are poorly worded or do not apply, and therefore the patient must choose from a number of responses that did not allow for accurate and complete reporting of the condition for which the medical assistance was being sought. Simple pen and ink with room for narrative responses would have been better and faster. This was remedied in the examination room with the techs and with Dr. Belkin, who asked pertinent questions and actually listened. So far, highly recommend.

This was the second orthopedist I have seen in this office. First was Dr Trupia, a hand and elbow specialist. This visit was for my shoulder with Dr Belkin. I was a surgical patient of dr Amarosa's, up until his departure in May. I appreciated being assigned to dr belkin for the continuity of care. she seemed to get ramped up quickly on the details of my case and treated me as if I were her patient from the beginning!

The doctor was pleasant, informative, and treated me like an adult. That is not always the case with "geriatric" patients. She did not make too much for my pain but was definitely concerned about it and took steps to prescribe medication and physical therapy immediately after a thorough investigation.
Dr. Belkin is prototypical physician in the best sense. Obviously knowledgeable, she listens, treats patients with respect and is very thorough in terms of explaining issues, options and solutions. I always leave Dr. Belkin's office with a positive feeling that my issues were treated correctly and that she has my health and well being foremost in her mind. Really terrific physician.
Dr. Belkins office was full of life! The energy was awesome! Dr. Belkin and all of her assistants were just great showing concern, comfort and understanding and also explaining everything.
