Nicole Peluso, APRN, RN

Nurse Practitioner (Psychiatry)
6545 France Ave S, Ste 501, Edina, MN
My diagnostic approach is thoughtful, comprehensive, and grounded in truly understanding the whole person—not just a set of symptoms. I take time to explore each patient’s history, current concerns, and the broader context of their life, including how mental health and, when relevant, substance use may intersect. This allows me to make accurate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans that are practical and meaningful. While medication management often serves as a foundation of care, I view it as just one piece of a larger, integrative treatment plan. I incorporate elements of supportive and solution-focused talk therapy into sessions, and I frequently encourage or coordinate with ongoing psychotherapy when it would be beneficial. My goal is to ensure patients feel supported not only biologically, but emotionally and psychologically as well. I strongly believe in a collaborative approach to care that is flexible, patient-centered, and empathetic. I strive to build a partnership with each patient—working together to understand their experiences, identify goals, and create a plan that aligns with their needs and values. Through this collaborative process, we focus on helping patients make meaningful progress and feel empowered in their mental health journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients can expect a warm, supportive, and grounded approach when working with me. My style is approachable, practical, and down-to-earth—I strive to create an environment where you feel comfortable being open and honest, without feeling judged or overly “clinical.” Building a genuine connection is important to me, as trust is the foundation for meaningful progress. I strive to take a thoughtful and comprehensive approach to understanding your concerns. This includes exploring your history, current symptoms, and the broader context of your life so we can develop an accurate diagnosis and a treatment plan that truly fits your needs. From there, we work together to create a plan that may include medication, psychotherapy, and lifestyle considerations, always tailored to you as an individual. I offer psychotherapy as part of my practice, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a psychodynamic perspective, and other behavioral approaches. This allows us to both address present-day challenges—such as thought patterns, coping skills, and behaviors—while also exploring deeper, underlying influences that may be shaping your experiences. I believe strongly in a collaborative approach to care that is flexible, patient-centered, and empathetic. You can expect to be an active partner in the process—we’ll regularly check in on what’s working, adjust as needed, and keep your goals at the center of our work. My role is to support, guide, and empower you as you move toward meaningful and lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is structured but flexible, with the goal of meeting each patient’s individual needs. Initial intake appointments are typically scheduled for 60 minutes. During this time, I take a comprehensive and thoughtful approach—reviewing your history, current concerns, symptoms, and any relevant life context so we can develop a clear understanding of what’s going on and create an appropriate, personalized treatment plan. Follow-up visits are generally 30 minutes, though this can vary depending on your needs and preferences. I aim to be flexible—sometimes we carve out more time to more deeply explore what’s coming up and ensure we have space to thoughtfully adjust your treatment plan. Other times, sessions may be shorter and more focused, serving as a check-in to make sure things are on track and that you’re feeling supported. I also integrate psychotherapy into each visit, whether sessions are shorter or longer. This may include supportive therapy, CBT-informed strategies, or exploring patterns and experiences from a more psychodynamic perspective. My goal is for each visit to feel productive, collaborative, and tailored to where you are, so we’re not just managing symptoms but also building insight, coping skills, and meaningful progress over time.
