About Dr. Omar Said
After nearly a decade practicing in Chicago, Dr. Omar Said has decided to pursue his dream of opening his own clinic. He is focused on providing the best patient experience possible and this brand-new, cutting-edge clinic has been designed with that goal in mind. At Ascend Pain and Wellness, our staff optimizes the patient experience by emphasizing patient communication and promoting positivity.
Dr. Said is a Fellowship Trained Double Board Certified Interventional Pain Physician and Anesthesiologist. Dr. Said completed his anesthesia residency at Rush University Medical Center. At Rush, he was recognized with the Robert D. Dripps, MD Memorial Award for Most Outstanding Resident presented to the graduating resident who displayed the most outstanding clinical and academic performance. He was also presented with the Katalin Selmeczi, MD Memorial Award for Humanism presented annually to the resident who embodies spirit, humanism, devotion and courage. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Said successfully completed an interventional pain management fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic. At the conclusion of his training, he was awarded the Ethelee Smith, MD award for Most Outstanding Fellow. More recently, he was recognized by his peers and nursing staff as MacNeal Hospital's Physician of the Year.
Dr. Said aims to incorporate his advanced training to provide the best overall patient experience. His mission centers around honesty and collaboration. He believes in instituting a system where the patient, physician, and medical staff work together to identify the source of the patient’s pain to establish a clear treatment plan. He recognizes that not all pain can be “cured,” but a committed effort can provide a higher quality of life. For that reason, patient comfort and satisfaction are his highest priority.
Dr. Said’s non-clinical interests include: spending time with his family and friends, Chicago summer festivals, and taking his dog Ramsey to dog parks.

Dr. Sahid does not rush the visit. He spends all the time you need explaining where your pain is. Then he gives you complete education showing you computer printouts of what your problem is and how he plans to treat it answers any questions that you have and never makes you feel rushed.

I The bedside manner was poor especially when you have patience that are severely in pain. I seen no empathy or compassion, but was straightforward able to understand and I think bedside manner is one of the most important things in. It comes to doctors and patients. ?

Quite possibly the worst appt I’ve ever had with a physician. I was asked to fill out all the forms a second time after u explained I’d already done so. The waiting room was freezing. Finally I was sent back but didn’t see the doctor for 90 minutes after my scheduled appt time—I had to ask to be rescheduled for him to show up. Then he never shook my hand, never examined my arthritic hands, never touched me. He never referenced the reports I had given him or the X-rays I had taken. I don’t believe they were read. He was dismissive, arrogant, cool and not personable in the least. He offered two solutions but made no discussion of what I was doing at present with orthopedic doctor. Absolutely terrible bedside manner. I had placed a good amount of importance on today’s visit and had my questions ready. I will not be going forward with him. Of the many other physicians I have seen in my lifetime, he is the single biggest disappointment as he had such a strong referral.

The staff was friendly and helpful. Dr. Said was friendly, helpful and listened to my concerns. He appeared to have a good understanding of my problem and what action to take. After my consultation, he was ready to act quickly to provide the relief that hopefully will solve my pain. He scheduled me for a follow-up visit 4 days later.

Dealing with chronic pain is stressful and from personal experience it can be difficult to get someone to listen to you. That's the main reason I love this doctor and his staff - they listen. They genuinely care about how I'm doing, how they can help me, even the small things in my life they want to know about. It makes me feel like I matter and that they really want to help which I'm so grateful for.
The staff really gets to know their patients and does all that they can for them. For example I deal with horrible anxiety along with everything else. During procedures Dr. Said will talk to me about random things like work and my obsession with Kpop. They will even play MONSTA X for me over the office speakers! Knowing that they pay attention to every little detail is a huge thing for me.

I think Dr Said and his staff are incredibly professional and very caring and really listen to my needs. I would highly recommend Dr Said! His support staff is wonderful…they always listen, phone calls are always answered and if not their response is very quick and in person which I truly appreciate! There’s nothing better than talking to a real live person and having personal care and if that’s what you’re looking for you will find it here at Ascend pain and wellness.
