About Dr. Osemwota Omoigui

Self Pay and Insurance Deductible - PrePayment is required. Clinic will call you one hour before appointment to verify payment or you cancel. If your insurance pays, you will be reimbursed. Sota Omoigui M.D. is an Anesthesia and Pain Medicine Specialist, Author, the Inflammatory Theory of Pain. Inflammation and not structural imaging should guide treatment of pain. He is author of Sota Omoigui’s Anesthesia Drugs Handbook that is translated into six languages, and author of multiple articles on Pain and Inflammation. Since the dawn of time, 300,000 years ago, Mankind has tried to understand the origins of pain. From Athenian philosopher Plato (c. 428 to 347 B.C.) to the 1644 pain theory , by the French philosopher Renee Descartes to the 1965 gate control theory by Melzack and Wall. None of these theories have withstood the test of time. In his seminal book titled: The Biochemical Origin of Pain and published in 2002, Dr Sota Omoigui proposed his theoretical law that the origin of pain is due to inflammation and the inflammatory response. His subsequent publication of his theory as a journal article in 2007 has been cited as of this date by 415 medical publications. In his 2002 theory, he demonstrated a clear association between migraine and the release of inflammatory mediator calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and substance P (SP). In 2019, seventeen years later, the US FDA approved members of a new class of drugs specifically designed to treat migraine by targeting calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP). Those drugs have been the greatest advance in the treatment of migraine. He has sought to revolutionize the treatment of pain from a structure based approach to an approach based on the treatment of inflammation and the inflammatory response. He has developed simple spinal injection procedures utilizing small and short 30 G needles based on the laws of physics and targeting multiple structures.
