Dr. Murakonda holds a medical degree from Nagarjuna University in India and completed a rotating internship at the University General Hospital in Vijayawada, India. In New York, she finished her Internal Medicine residency at Catholic Medical Center through the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and her fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center through New York Medical College.
In 1999, Dr. Murakonda joined the faculty of Geriatric Medicine at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, now Montefiore Medical Center, Wakefield Campus. She took 40 min with the staff arguing because I was a new patient to her and I had come in for my yearly physical. The availability to see a doctor was 4-5 months out . She just wanted to review my history and another visit for the physical. All info is in computer as Optum uses Epic. She didn’t speak to me about my issues and I changed doctor. She was more concerned about the computer than what I needed. I changed this doctor for my husbands appointment. We were with Mount Kisco medical for 20 years and was very satisfied and move and now came back, hopefully this was a one time incident.

She is very thorough, spends lots of time going over the chart, but doesn't engage enough with me, the patient. I like her and will continue with her as my PCP.

In my hour visit the provider spent45/50 minutes on the computer. Not reviewing it accurately and was lecturing me. Not listening to what was explaining. It felt more or less like there was no interest in knowing who I was, why whatever I was explaining meant something regarding what she was asking. She was listening or responding to anything I said.

Dr. Murakonda has perfected the art of actually listening to what the patient has to say. She explains everything very well and makes sure her patients understand their treatment options. She updates all medications at every visit. Dr. Murakonda gives suggestions to her patients as to how they can improve their health through diet and exercise, but never lectures. She is very professional, but also makes her patients comfortable. I would definitely recommend her to someone seeking a new physician.
