Dr. Padmini Shamasundara has been treating adults for depression, anxiety and sleep disorders for more than 27 years. Dr. Shamasundara completed her medical studies at Mysore Medical College and Research Institute in India. She then moved to the United States, where she completed her residency in psychiatry at the University of California, Davis.
While Dr. Shamasundara is well versed in psychopharmacology, she specializes in using non-drug alternatives to treat her patients including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy as well as mindfulness training and natural remedies. Dr. Shamasundara is TMS-certified by MagVenture, Neuronetics, Brainsway and MagStim, four of the leading manufacturers of TMS therapy equipment. Her goal in treating her patients is to reduce or eliminate their dependence upon antidepressants or similar drug therapies.
Dr. Shamasundara is accepting new patients and is available by appointment for general psychiatric consultations, medication management and TMS therapy. She is also available to do consults and office visits via telepsychiatry.

this doctor was not very confident in her abilities. As an RN for 38 years, I’ve never had a psychiatrist who needed to check in with another psychiatrist in order to order medication’s. It was just a really odd experience and not natural or normal. I believe she wanted me to speak to the other psychiatrist to sell me on TMS HEALING. I’m not sure but I no longer be going to the psychiatrist just a little bit weird how they operate

Dr. Shamasundara was a breath of fresh air after over 10 years of mediocre mental heath support. She went well beyond what I've experienced with other Psychiatrists, and I could tell she was actually trying to help and not just reading a scripted responses and trying to get to her next appointment. I'm in my 30's and have felt dismissed by previous doctors when I ask questions, but Dr. Shamasundara didn't let her years of experience inflate her ego, she was humble and helpful!
