“I hope this review can dispell some of the "haters" who leave bad reviews based on nonsense criteria like how long they had to wait or whether a tile was loose in the bathroom. Dr Brody was incredibly knowledeable. I came to him thinking my skin condition was one thing and he quickly diagnosed it as something else. He took the time to explain not only what the issue was, but how it could have happened and why it could easily be misconstrued as something else. He helped make what would normally be an uncomfortable conversation very easy to have. He is very straightforward and professional. I felt compelled to write a review because so many people are quick to trash a doctor or an office on trivial matters like waiting time. I would rather wait a bit longer for a doctor who gets it right than to have no wait for a doctor who gets it wrong. The staff was very courteous and Dr Brody took his time with me. I would highly recommend Dr Brody if you are looking to actually FIX what is wrong.”

I should have known when reception wasn’t wearing her mask properly. I’m still here. It’s been an hour. They are clearly not run well as I can see the dermatologist arguing with the reception and yelling about keeping things moving. Oh, and more than one person has walked into this crowded room without a mask on, during a pandemic. I hope I don’t catch covid.

The Doctor was very thorough, Kind, and helpful. He addressed all of my concerns and provided careful advice. His MA, Perry, and Mecca were excellent. Thank You Dr. Brody & staff.
Waited over an hour. Doctor had very bizarre bedside manner. Did a biopsy on a mole that was different than the one I came in for. Was not happy with the amount of scarring left behind. Still haven't received my results from the biopsy.
The professionalism of the staff was excellent. I felt good about my experience and I would recommend anyone who needs a dermatologist to see Dr. Paul Brody. He is thorough and has an amazing bedside manner.

This review is for three separate visits within a month to Dr. Brody's office in Brooklyn Heights. All three of my visits had a backup of patients, most of whom seemed to be waiting at least an hour in a small waiting room. There was never an explanation for why people were waiting, except that appointments were overbooked. At the third appointment, when I asked the receptionist why this was such a problem, she responded that "it's the way the doctor likes to schedule things". After waiting nearly an hour and a half, I decided to cancel my appointment. The way the patients were handled was unprofessional. Dr. Brody himself seemed knowledgeable, but he did not thoroughly explain what his plan for me was, what the end goal was for my skin treatment, or really make me feel like I was being given the proper level of care. I went for a yearly routine skin check and he informed me that he wanted to biopsy a mole and for me to return in two weeks (no problem, that seems logical to me). Upon returning, he barely remembered what I was there for, didn't know if he took photos of me the first visit (he did - for about ten minutes), and just looked at my skin again and decided we should biopsy a second mole for testing. When I asked him why we couldn't handle multiple procedures at once and how many times we would have to repeat this process, he became irritated and responded in a way that didn't answer my questions. Aside from my actual medical experience listed above, I was uncomfortable with the way Dr. Brody treated his staff. He was impolite, bossy, and said certain things that clearly made the staff uncomfortable.
Dr Brody was great.. very thorough and a pleasant and funny personality.. def am going to use him as my one and only dermatologist frm now on.

Very thorough and great bedside manner. Be prepared to wait because he takes his time with each patient. Will return and will recommend to others.

A little bit of a wait but worth it

- I got a 8:40am phone call telling me to call another number to give my insurance info so that the wait time isn't so long when I get there later. I do that. The info is already on zocdoc, but fine, also please don't call me before 9am... - I still got there 20min early to fill out needed paperwork and insurance was still asked for even though that's what I was called about earlier, I told them I already gave it, didn't matter. That early phone call had zero effect on wait time... seems disorganized already. - I waited over an hour and I'm not counting the 20min I came in early to fill out paperwork. After 45min past my appt time, I went to ask how much longer I'd have to wait and was told to hold on, so I stood there for 5 min before the receptionist finally spoke to me saying "what's your name? when can i make you your next appointment?" I had to explain that I'm already in the room waiting just need to know how much longer. I waited 15more min past that totaling 1 hour past my appt time. - A woman comes in to apologize so I asked if that wait time was normal and was told no, which is why the next fact is interesting. - Jumping to the end, in jest, the Dr. told me to bring "the good book" to read for the wait next time I come since it will be long wait at the end of the day. (1. I'm not religious so that's not an appropriate thing to say to me and 2. I thought this wasn't the normal wait time? but I guess it is..oh ok thanks for letting me know.) - Once I was finally seen by the Dr's assistant, she told another woman in front of me, not to book a room so that they could eat lunch in it after my appointment... The other woman already booked it, so they were bummed.. and the waiting room was full after I left so guessing no one ate lunch today?? (1. Why is their lunch break dependent on chance? Don't take on so many appointments if you can't service them, and allocate time to eat so people can do a good job and enjoy work. 2. why are people eating lunch where patients are taken? 3. The system of how things run and how people communicate, obviously needs a lot of work.) - The Dr. asst was apologetic about the wait time then started asking me the same questions that I already filled out in the waiting room, I told her I wrote it all down so then she looked down at the paperwork in front of her like “oh” and started filling our her forms with it. I'm not sure if this was her normal job or if I just seemed like I needed to be seen right away so she filled in? The Dr. snapped at her a few times because her note taking wasn't correct or whatever. She seemed to be walking on egg shells. I'm sure knowing I was unhappy with the wait time and the general vibe of her boss made her nervous. Understandable disposition. - She also asked me to sign a consent form without giving me anything to read. - When the Dr came in to treat me for acne, he hardly looked at my skin and didn't ask me any questions about my diet, amount of stress etc, but immediately offered a ton of medication (one of which the FDA is trying to ban after a quick google - Hydroquinone) and was talking a mile a minute so it felt rushed. - Was quick to stick my face with needles before explaining any side effects or even ask if I wanted that done for acne, more concerned whether the consent form was signed first, then he came at me with the needle, I said WAIT and asked about insurance and any last second questions about it, didn't feel like there was time for a conversation about it before he did it. I know I could have gotten up and left in those seconds or made him explain further but it felt pressured and like I should just trust the doctor. I found out the side effects once I was home and googled the procedure. - The Dr's personality felt manipulative, he said it was a courtesy of his that he spent so long with me and that's the difference between him and other doctors and why things run behind there, in actuality he spent 25min with me, less than half the time I spent waiting. The appt before mine lasted 45min-1hr (I could hear every personal detail from the appt before mine in the next room) He made many quick jokes that felt like lame attempts to make me feel like he's personable and like it makes up for 1hr+ wait time. I rather just be talked to like time isn’t running out than be made to fake laugh… also hard to feel like someone is personable when they’re being rude to their asst. - Joked that I should tell the people in the waiting room that "it was worth the wait and it didn't come from the Dr"... I guess I have a bad sense of humor because nervous laughter to be polite was all I could muster. - Within the time I was there I heard him talk over and be condescending towards every woman in the office (no men holding admin positions while I was there so I didn't see if he treats everyone like that) He was also shocked that I'm a director at my job because I look young. I'm guessing he wouldn't be shocked if a guy my age (29) was a director at their job. Also asking me if I work instead of what I do seems strange, would you ask a guy if they work? semantics I'm sure. Advise to management: Above learning basic time management (which is a big one) learn to respect women, issues start at the top.
Good doctor.
I felt that he did not listen to my concerns, he kept cutting me off while I was trying to explain my concerns, being a new patient, he spent less than 10 minutes after waiting for the longest time... I wouldn't have mind waiting if he was a little more caring...
Very professional and sense of humor
