Paul J. Dougherty, M.D. is one of the most experienced and respected LASIK and Lens implant surgeons in the world. He has performed over 30,000 vision correction procedures. He is an authority on LASIK, Cataract surgery and other non-laser vision correction techniques such as the new generation of implantable contact and intraocular lenses (ICL’s/IOL’s) and treatments for corneal conditions, such as Keratoconus with Cornel Collagen Cross-Linking and Intacs.
Dr. Dougherty served as a principal investigator on FDA trials that helped pioneer today’s new generation of lasers and lens implants. He has helped to develop many lens and laser-based vision correction technologies that have revolutionized his field, often travelling the globe training refractive surgeons in those techniques.
Dr. Dougherty graduated first in his class at the UCLA Medical School and is a Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at UCLA ‘s Jules Stein Eye Institute. He also
trained as a year-long fellow with Dr. Richard Lindstrom, the surgeon credited with popularizing LASIK in the United States. Dr. Dougherty was among the first surgeons in the United States to perform laser vision correction on an investigational basis before the FDA approved it in 1995.
In January 1997, Dr. Dougherty became one of the first ophthalmologists in the US to have LASIK performed on his own eyes. Therefore, as a surgeon who experienced the LASIK procedure first-hand, Dr. Dougherty can relate to his patients' concerns with unique insight and perspective.
Such experience breeds trust. That’s why Dougherty has become the “Doctor’s Doctor.” Hundreds of physicians and other health care professionals, including other vision correction surgeons, have made Dougherty their choice when it comes to correcting their own sight.

Great Doctor who treated me with the best care and advice
Staff was excellent. Doctor was great! First visit for eyes ever and it was a great experience.
Great place wonderful people
He seemed a little put out. Will never use ZOCDOC again. Total confusion as to why I was there, that I was an existing patient, and what all I would be having done.
