About Dr. Paul Stevenson

Dr. Paul Stevenson joined Water’s Edge Dermatology with over 25 years of dermatology experience, practicing in both Florida and New York. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise from treating a vast number of patients with diverse dermatologic needs. Dr. Stevenson earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Biology and Chemistry (Nuclear Medicine) from Wagner College in Staten Island, NY. He continued his education, obtained his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, and practiced Podiatry for several years in New York before attending medical school. He earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry – School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey. He then completed his American Osteopathic Association Internship at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Following this, he completed his three-year American Osteopathic Association/American Osteopathic College of Dermatology Accredited Dermatology Program at Advanced Dermatology Associates in Rochester, New York. Dr. Stevenson is passionate about all aspects of skin care and wants to provide the best possible treatment for his patients to achieve their 100% satisfaction. His practice principles are to be thorough, explain conditions well and leave no questions unanswered. On a more personal note, Dr. Stevenson enjoys spending time with his lovely wife Joanne, who he states is all of his reasons for what he has accomplished. He enjoys her cooking, especially the Italian dishes. Their family is most important, and they look forward to visits with their son and his family who still brave the winters in Upstate New York. Lastly, a good reference Dr. Stevenson uses for life can be found in the lyrics of a song by Tim McGraw titled “Humble and Kind”.

I told the Dr about the growth and pointed to its exact location on my cheek. He then touched my face in 4 places, (none of which were near where the growth was located). He said “ I don’t feel anything “. I explained to him that in order to “feel” the 1 mm immovable growth on my cheek, he would need to touch it. After my request he then lightly brushed over the area and stated “there’s nothing there” yet again. Being that the growth is small you have to apply light pressure to feel it. I am concerned about it being cancer so I asked him to try again. He abruptly refused and ended my appointment. No biopsy, no proper exam, no questions asked about the growth. I lost wages from taking time off work, I had to waste another hour waiting and paid a copay for him to refuse to perform the most basic of exams. I would recommend this doctor.

The registration procedure was tedious and should be something you can do on line prior to the appointment. The long lines of people and wait time was no fun for a person with painful back issues. However in retrospect the doctor was very professional, knowledgeable and informative.

This was my husband's and my first visit with this office. What a pleasant visit this was compared to the former dermatology office we previously went to. Office staff was pleasant and efficient. Had the most thorough exam that we have had in about 20 years. Dr. Stevenson took his time, examined every inch of our skin and explained what he saw, whether is was normal or an area of possible future concern. He thoroughly explained a procedure that my husband will need to have done. It is a procedure he has had before, but this doctor explained it more thoroughly . We were extremely impressed with the care we received. So glad we made the change to this practice.

This was my 2nd visit with this provider for a f/u procedure identified at my first visit 10 days ago. Everything went smoothly and Dr. Stevenson was professional, courteous and explained everything as he went along. I'm very appreciative of his expertise and reassuring demeanor and further discussion of my issue in 2 weeks. Front desk ladies are very pleasant and efficient, as is the courteous lady at checkout.
Everyone was pleasant, office was extremely clean and bright. Apt was on time and my Provider was thorough, knowledgeable and took time to explain what he would be doing before proceeding and what his findings were during the exam. He did find an area of concern that I was unaware of, that will be taken care of in a timely manner. I accompanied my husband to a different Practice a few weeks earlier and his exam ( whole body) was not as thorough as this one. This was my first dermatology exam (whole body) and I'm extremely thankful I went. I would highly recommend this Practice and Provider based on my experience.
