Getting to know Dr. Pavan Prasad

I specialize in treating Adult ADHD and mood disorders using a holistic approach that focuses on the whole person rather than just symptoms. My expertise includes helping individuals with mood, self-esteem, and concentration challenges, as well as addressing more complex issues related to identity, interpersonal relationships, and professional achievement. I work with patients experiencing emotional distress and difficulties in daily living, which may present as depression, anxiety, insomnia, problems with intimacy or self-esteem, concentration difficulties, excessive anger or guilt, or struggles with finding meaning in life. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from St. Matthew's University School of Medicine (Grand Cayman) and completed my residency in Psychiatry at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. We encourage every patient to call their insurance provider before their appointment to verify eligibility and benefits for mental health services. Please also confirm your deductible status, coinsurance, and co-payments. Clarity Clinic will verify your insurance upon arrival at your first appointment.

We handled our bi-polar son very well. He was very clear and concise and gave us hope for the future management of son.
Dr Prasad was excellent in reassessing my previous diagnosis and has been very helpful in my followup visits.
He's great. Listens to what you have to say & doesn't discredit how you feel. Also, he's very knowledgable.
The doctor was very attentive and explained his thought process very well. Very satisfied with my visit.
I was very nervous but Dr. Prasad made me feel comfortable. He was very easy to talk to.
I think he's very professional and reassuring. He definitely cares for his patients.
Very nice and easy to talk to. I enjoyed our session and felt he was very helpful.

Dr. Prasad was great—I felt comfortable discussing my situation with him as well as discussing options. He's also timely with scheduling next steps.
    Efficient.
He is always running behind, appointments are 15 minutes each after the initial and I've sat there 30 minutes before being seen despite being on time. He is very mentally disconnected and almost seems like he is just going through the motions in order to get you out of the office. 5 close together appointments should warrant someone remembering your name or the therapist that referred you to him but, like I said. How can someone remember your name if they're literally in outer space during your every appointment
Dr. Prasad was professional, to the point (yet courteous and engaging), and understanding of my situation. Heavily recommended
Rude, very late, pushy, and unprofessional.
    He cares
my experience was not satisfied because the doctor interrupted me every time I was trying to explain something. and I figured that he doesn't know much about ADHD. if you want to pay money to some to make you prescription this is the right person. I have had bad experience with psychiatrist,I feel they just care about your money.
I understand why some people were not happy with their experience. I filled out a bunch of surveys and forms and when I sat down with the doctor he immediately told me what I had. No he did not listen to me very well, just asked me questions and did jump in on things I was saying. I'm not sure I was diagnosed correctly but the medications and therapy he has prescribed do seem to help. He does seem to care and is a nice guy, don't expect to be there more than 20 minutes.
I've had nothing but positive experiences from Dr. Prasad and the staff of Clarity Clinic. Some people say he is a fast talker, and yes he is! But, he is very kind and understanding, I've always felt really comfortable during my appointments. Alyssa, his PA, is great as well! So glad I found this clinic
Dr. Prasad forgot my name multiple times within the appointment, hastily wrote me a prescription without asking many questions whatsoever, and seemed more interested in getting me out as quickly as possible. I've never felt so neglected by a medical professional in my life.
dr. prasad is a great doctor!
Dr. Prasad was very pleasant. He listened to what I had to say and was able to make recommendations for a treatment plan. He was absolutely understanding of my experiences and was reassuring of my ability to have a positive outcome. I've read some reviews below and thought it pertinent to add that Dr. Prasad is a psychiatrist, and can make a recommendation for you to speak with a therapist based on your needs. Psychologists vs psychiatrists vs therapists all play different roles in the treatment for mental health. It's a confusing space but Dr. Prasad explains it well.
Dr. Prasad was quick to diagnose a condition that had been overlooked previously. Because of this new diagnosis he was able to prescribe medication that has worked for me over several months. The speed that he moved at did make me wonder if it was good advice; however, long term he was proven correct. Additionally he was able to help me with my PTSD related insomnia immediately. Something other people were unable to do. He talks fast, is very direct, and corrected my lexicon to help me understand my issues. He always remembered who I was and what my issues were. If you are looking for a slow gentle hand I would expect he would not be a good fit, but I would still recommend you try.
Dr Prasad, and everyone I worked with at Clarity Clinic (therapist Nicole and other staff) were excellent. Dr Prasad and Nicole were very friendly and kind and took an active interest in my progress and unique difficulties that I was working through. Really an excellent team. Also the facilities were relaxing and professionally designed. As of Dec 2015 they were still making some modifications to the decor as it is a new (and modern) office space.
Highly highly recommend Dr. Prasad. He is extremely easy to talk to and truly cares about each and every one of his patients. Now that I found him I will never go to another psychiatrist. He is absolutely wonderful!!!
I had a great first visit with Dr Prasad. He listened attentively and seemed focused on my story and the help i was looking for. His experience and knowledge came though clearly to me and made me feel comfortable and at ease.
I had my first visit with Dr.Prasad today. Im Impressed with his knowledge of medication, especially interactive issues. A good listener and professional. Could not recommend higher. I was happy there was no waiting time. I'll definitely be continue seeing him as my Dr, as well as recommend him. I'm also going to be starting therapy there as well, it seems to be they have a wide variety of therapist and he seemed to find the one that would fit my issues the best and booked me an appointment with her right away. I'm very relieved because I had read a couple of the reviews that weren't that pleasant and that's not the experience I had at all! Clarity clinic as whole makes me feel comfortable and safe.
As some others have stated on here, I am totally shocked at the positive reviews, especially those describing him as "warm" and "caring". To start off, with a 4 o'clock appointment I was finally seen at 4:40PM. Initially I was seen by a physician’s assistant rather than Dr. Prasad himself. The PA performed the bulk of the work on my visit and was the one to actually talk through why I was there, how I was feeling, and my past experiences with therapy. She did so because another appointment ran over and she needed to help the doctor get back on track. After speaking with her, and filling out three worksheets, she handed them down to Dr. Prasad and within 5 minutes he not only had a diagnosis but a prescription. At no point did Dr. Prasad try to actually talk through my concerns to get to the root of my issues or why I was having such thoughts or feelings. Personally, I do not think he cared and was just there to provide a prescription rather than be a true professional and help me work through what was happening with me and why that may be – a far diversion from his self-described “holistic approach”. Even if I do need the prescription, as an informed consumer I would like to know the “whys” behind a diagnosis rather than just being dictated, rushed out, and told to come back in two weeks. Dr. Prasad is by far the most abrasive and arrogant medical doctor I have ever encountered. If you are looking to be talked down to and have your problems fixed with a quick diagnosis and prescription, he may be the one for you. However, if you are someone who cares about treating the whole body, potentially considering alternative treatments, and want more than a black and white diagnosis, I highly do not recommend him.
Dr. Prasad is terrible. If this had been my first time seeking help for my mental health issues I would have never returned to any therapist/psychiatrist ever, which is a terrifying thought considering how many new patients he probably sees. The second time I saw him he yelled at me, told me that he didn't remember my name or what we had discussed, and berated me for my asking to change my medications because the one he prescribed made me severely ill. I was honestly in shock when I left his office. I don't want this to reflect on the Clarity Clinic as a whole. Everyone else I have met there has been very kind and helpful. But Dr. Prasad really has no business working with patients that are struggling with mental illness.
Absolutely awful. He interrupted me every time I tried to answer one of his questions, and within five minutes he'd pushed a ten-question ADHD survey at me, then immediately diagnosed me a stimulant to treat it--I was there to /reduce/ my medication because it was making me sleepy and distracted! When I tried to explain myself he told me to be quiet and lectured me about how he was just trying to help, how I didn't need to be hostile, etc. Then he pushed a survey for another disorder for me and prescribed me completely different drugs, and refused to tell me any side effects of the drugs ("nothing, really, not much at all"). I left feeling humiliated. Would not ever recommend to anyone.
Dr. Prasad was so nice and personable. I would recommend him and the office to anyone. The office was welcoming and his coworkers were also very pleasant.
Dr. Prasad was so nice and friendly. He was very professional and knowledgable. I absolutely would reccomend to friends and family. His office is so much more convenient than I anticipated because it is downtown.
Dr. Prasad offered a compassionate psychiatric evaluation. He kept our conversation moving at a fast and productive pace, however, he encouraged me to interrupt him whenever I had a question. Dr. Prasad is genuinely committed to finding a way to treat his patients. I would recommend Dr. Prasad to just about anyone in need of psychiatric evaluation.
Great doctors already have patients who love them; Pavan is no exception. He truly takes the time to get to know his patients vs many who can make one feel like another number.
I am extremely surprised by the positive reviews on here because I originally chose him for his high rating. Some people on here describe him as “warm” and “easy to talk to,” which is comical because he is definitely the polar opposite. The patient from September 13th was spot-on, and I regret not taking their opinion into consideration before booking. I came in with the hopes of simply getting prescriptions refilled that are working fairly well (they were prescribed by another psychiatrist who I no longer see). I was also hoping to address some anxiety and sleep issues. Right off the bat, he claimed that every other doctor/therapist I have seen before are wrong and that he is unique because he “cares” about his patients and their mental health. I thought it was odd that he would put himself on such a high pedestal and insult other professionals so quickly. This was my first red flag. Without looking at my chart to avoid bias (okay, understandable), he began asking me questions. If I couldn’t remember something or didn’t know how to answer, he would keep pushing and get angry that I didn’t know. I would try to interject and give my own opinions, but he would shut me down. Rather than letting me explain it myself, he would simply assume how I was feeling. He made me feel stupid and belittled, which is not how one should feel when they are seeking help from someone. Within ten minutes, I was already in tears because I was becoming very frustrated with his questions and his reluctance to let me speak. He attributed my crying to being “in pain” and “emotionally struggling,” but I actually haven’t cried in months and this is the happiest I’ve been my entire life. He had to ask me multiple times if I forgave him for upsetting me, and at the very end he asked if I trusted him. I responded that I wasn’t sure. I think he thought I was upset about the diagnosis he gave, but really I was upset because I felt like he was just feeding me a load of bull. If you have to keep reassuring someone out loud that you care, you probably don’t. TL;DR: Even if his recommendations are right, I would never feel comfortable working with him because of his arrogant and abrasive personality. It was definitely one of the least professional experiences I’ve ever had at any type of business, let alone a mental health facility.
I came across Dr. Prasad on zocdoc after switching jobs and insurance plans and having to find a new psychiatric provider. I had been receiving treatment for a number of years that I believed to be "as effective" as it would get, considering I felt better then I did before treatment began. After gathering the appropriate history/symptoms/effect of medications, etc. Dr. Prasad suggested that I try a new treatment regimen and then provided me with a THOROUGH explanation about why this plan might be more beneficial to me and my goals. Honestly, I emphasize thorough because this was the first time any Doctor had been willing to spend the time explaining his rationale for treatment was without referring me to a generic print out. I have to say I was hesitant to even seek out a new doctor but I am so glad that I was forced to change insurance plans when I did. I can't tell you how refreshing it has been working with Dr Prasad, I am not afraid to ask questions or bring my concerns to the table and he responds in a very informative and professional manner. It is nice to feel like I am working WITH my doctor to figure out what will work best for me.
He can be fast talking and may interrupt but he does know what he is talking about. Once I got over those quirks I really do trust his opinion. He ensure that, before any course of action taken is something you are comfortable with first. He takes accountability for issues your bring up and works with you. Overall a good practitioner.
Dr. Prasad was amazing. I was very happy to have a doctor take time to explain things to me without treating me as if I was stupid or acting like it was a waste of their time. He is very straight forward and wants to make sure you are comfortable with what is happening with your treatment. He is professional and personable. Highly recommended!
Very thorough. To start I was afraid of heading into the office to be seen by a Psych but I am happy to have stumbled upon him. He did not sugar coat anything was extremely straightforward and thorough. I was in a bit of a denial, however, he comforted me and made sure I understood everything before I left the office.
He was able to diagnose me pretty quickly for my anxiety and is very easy to talk to. Two weeks later and I feel much better.
The doctor I saw treated me so differently than the reviews posted here I thought he must've had a lobotomy. He constantly interrupted me with questions and made a diagnosis based on those questions that he didn't give me the courtesy letting me answer with more than 3 words. Even if he was right, I have zero desire to work with him. He couldn't stop being arrogant and combative long enough to listen to my concerns. I've been to many mental health professionals and have never, ever met a doctor this rude and unprofessional. I walked out in the middle of my appointment and refused to accept prescriptions from him, which I have never considered doing in my wildest dreams. Awful.
Glad to have found Dr. Prasad! He was extremely easy to talk to and really listened to what I was saying. Excited to return.
Very good listener, smart, & caring.
Dr. Prasad really listened and he was very thoughtful about treatment decisions and working with me as a team. He's one of the best drs I've ever had.
Dr. Prasad gave me hope when I'd kind of given up on it. He is so friendly and warm that it's easy to talk to him about all the embarrassing stuff that requires a visit to a psych doctor. He gets across information in a very clear way - he makes it relatable and brings it to your level. I'm really looking forward to working with him to get myself all "un-crazied" :-)
Dr. Prasad made me feel comfortable and provided insightful feedback in response to my concerns. I highly recommend Dr. Prasad.
