Getting to know Dr. Pinar Yilmaz
I am a board-certified psychiatrist with more than 20 years of experience in psychiatric care. I enjoy working with people who present a wide range of problems and different backgrounds and I know everyone is one of a kind. Understanding unique qualities of each person requires compassionate and active listening while providing an unbiased, nonjudgmental and safe environment. I think it's important to create a team effort towards relief to establish the goal of long-lasting wellness by building self-awareness, independence and resilience.
My approach is collaborative, warm and practical. I have no pharmaceutical company affiliations, which allows me to be neutral and objective. I aim to understand the individual and their issues fully before a mutual decision is reached to consider medications and only after a discussion of options available. My areas of interest are mood disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD and panic disorders . Minority population issues, women's mood disorders during, before and after pregnancy and menopause are areas I am always eager to work with and learn more about. Immigration related problems and uprootedness as opposed to belonging remain a constant source of interest.
I completed my residency in psychiatry at New York University Medical Center at the Department of Psychiatry in New York, NY. I am certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I would like the use the initial consultation as a way to get to know you better. This would allow me to tailor treatment to your needs. Medication management -if needed -will be explored in the course of the follow up visits.
Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $450 for 50 minutes
Ongoing session: $300 for 25 minutes

I will need a credit card authorization form signed prior to our meeting. This will be available through forms. I am happy to provide insurance forms and statements to assist you in obtaining reimbursement from your insurance.
