About Dr. Pragnesh Patel

Dr. Pragnesh Patel joined Houston Regional Gastroenterology in July 2019. Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research Institute (SMIMER) in his hometown Surat, India. In 2010, he moved to Houston. He is proud to call Houston his second home. He completed post-graduate training, which includes residency and fellowships, at the Texas Medical Center under world-renowned mentors. He completed Internal Medicine residency at University of Texas at Health Science Center - Houston. Subsequently, he joined Baylor College of Medicine for fellowship in Transplant Hepatology. Lastly, he attended Houston Methodist Hospital - Weill Cornell for Gastroenterology fellowship. During his training, he was able to present at several conferences as well as publish research articles in international journals. Dr. Patel’s philosophy centers on providing personalized care tailored to each patient’s specific clinical problem. It is important for him to give adequate time to his patients to discuss the medical problem at hand, and to explain about treatment plan and details of any indicated procedures. Patient’s engagement in their care is upmost priority for him. In addition to taking care of general gastrointestinal diseases, Dr. Patel also enjoys taking care of complex liver and pancreaticobiliary diseases. Dr. Patel is married with one daughter. When he is not practicing medicine, he loves spending time with his family, traveling to different places, and learning about different cultures. He believes in giving back to community that has been an integral part of his career development through volunteering. He is a great cricket fan and has participated at college level in various cricket tournaments.
