About Dr. Rachel Thakore
Dr. Rachel Thakore is a board-certified dermatologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She graduated magna cum laude from Brown University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science with honors in Biology and Community Health. She was inducted into the Sigma Xi Scientific Honor Society and subsequently completed a one-year research fellowship at the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Department for Health Policy, where she published over 30 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals.
Dr. Thakore earned her Doctor of Medicine from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, scoring in the top 5 percent on Step 1 of the United States Medical Licensing Exam, earning honors in all of her core clinical rotations, and serving on the board of the local free health clinic. In recognition of her significant academic achievements, she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society for physicians.
She then completed a preliminary internship in Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Osler Medical Residency Program and went on to complete her dermatology residency at Howard University, where she served as Chief Resident. During her residency, she developed a strong interest in treating dermatologic conditions in patients with skin of color.
Dr. Thakore currently lives in Chicago with her husband and their two golden retrievers.

Absolutely no help. Referred me to 3 other suites in the building, with only 1 being relevant to the issue. One was not an open office and the other was for head and trauma.

I found Dr. Rachel very responsive to my dermatology needs. I found an issue with my upper chest. Dr. Rachel assured me that it will be benign. Which made me feel more relaxed and not tense as before. She provided me with some information pamphlet that showed what a cancerous mile looked like. She told me to monitor the little mole.

Not the worst experience, but the appointment seemed extremely rushed. A culture from my skin was taken and I was told it would take a couple days and it took almost 5 days, and then it took another several days for them to send over the prescriptions. When I went in for a follow up a week later because things were worsening, I was told she couldn't really tell what was wrong but she guessed at another skin condition and had me google it. Overall there seemed to be a lack of empathy even though she seems nice.

I had a wonderful new patient appointment with Dr. Thakore. Upon entering the exam room, she had already reviewed the patient questionnaire I had filled out the previous day. Although I was there for an existing condition that I had been diagnosed with over a decade ago, she thoroughly reviewed the treatment plan and the underlying cause of the condition. She also listened and answered any other questions and concerns I had.

Rachel was so friendly and explained everything she was doing for my skin-cancer screening and always asked permission when checking sensitive areas. She answered all my questions thoroughly and gave me some mineral SPF samples to take with me! I’ll be back for next year’s screening!
